Holy poopie!!!  Keep a steel screen over the intake so you don't suck pedestrians in!!!

I'd like to make two suggestions, if I may be so bold....

I had Keith build almost the exact engine, and the two things I would change is the oil pan and the valve covers.

The Canton pan has a poor attempt at a baffle, at the rear of the sump, and no windage tray.  I told them I was not going to be on the track except on rare occasions, so the Canton pan was their choice, but after driving this car, with this engine, I am convinced a trap door type pan with a windage tray is good insurance!  Armando's Cobra pan would be my recommendation, and plug the dip stick hole on the block, and install the dip stick on the pan.

The valve covers are set up for twist-on breathers, and tend to leak and spew at high RPM's.  I would ask them to put an adapter on the back of the intake manifold for the crank case venting, like the old FE's had, and some sort of screw-in filler cap on one of the valve covers for filling.  I am probably going to have bungs welded to the Cobra Le mans valve covers, in the existing twist-on holes, for a screw-on fill cap in one, and a 12AN fitting for a remote vent on the other.

The "HOLD ON" tag will be appropriate!!!   :o

Tom, you crack me up--"holy poopie!!!" steel screen..... ;D ;D

Thanks Ryan I'm sure it will be scary fun......

Thanks Brad, I have an e-mail in to Keith with your suggestions, let's see what he responds with.

I did see on the canton site that the T style front sump road race pan has 6 trap doors and a windage tray. Is this not adequate enough?

STYLE: Shallow [ch12539]T [ch12539]sump style pan fully baffled for Road Race applications. Ideal for Mustangs or Cobra Kit Cars.

SIZE: 6" Deep, 13" Wide by 10" Long sump gives an 8 quart system capacity.

FEATURES: Road race baffling with 6 trap doors and two runners which direct oil toward the pickup and hold it there under all conditions, bolt-in windage tray, temp. fitting, and magnetic drain plug.

Yea, that pan would be great, if that was the one they used.

Nice engine Dan!!!!!!  The "Hold On" plate sounds like it would be appropriate with your engine. It should be a ton of fun. I can't wait to see it.

Hey Brad,
Just spoke to Tony at KC and they are upgrading me to the 15-820 pan with road race baffling and 6 trap doors.

Thanks for the heads up.  ;)

I saw on the Canton website that you can get a windage tray for yours.

I installed Armondo's pan, and tray, this past weekend.  The Canton pan will go up for sale, along with some other extra parts, when I get things sorted out.

I am taking one of my vacation weeks this week and all I'm going to do is work on the car ;D ;D

I have the drivers side initial sanding and filler done between the wheelwells.  The filler isn't as thick as it looks.  Have pity on the bodywork challenged please..... :-[

I'll be posting pics all week, enjoy and feel free to criticize in a positive way if you see something out of whack..... ;)
