General Information / Re: New lead builder

Good day, Dusty, and welcome to the fray!

I have a general "builder" question....when I visited the Hurricane factory in Lee's Summit (long, long ago), there was a 289 body sitting on one of Hurricane's frames.

I can spend hours--nay, days-- reading the info on the ERA website!

QuoteI've never seen the poster you refer to. Do you have a link or image of it?
Paul

IIRC, Paul, the poster to which Fuzzy is referring was an advertisement for the B F Goodrich tire company.

QuoteYou'll have to take cobraspit's comments with a grain of salt.
I think he smokes a lot...... [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif] ::)

Yeah, Dan, I've been here longer than Cobraspit, watched him when he was a newby and rejoiced when he could join the ranks of the owners.

QuoteI don't know of anyone else selling an affordable street Cobra version.

Dan, you might want to check out Unique Motorcars, here's a link:

http://www.uniquemotorcars.com/

Unique offers both 427 and 289 models and they have been in the business for a long time.

Thanks, Fuzzy.  I checked it out and it appears to be an owners' only website, is that correct?  Since I'm only a "hopeful" at this point, nothing to add to the registry, I have to ask before I leap--is the site membership available to the faithful wannabe's, too?

QuoteI will be there with my Kirkham, see you !!! :)

WOW, Alfredo--I've seen your work on the build threads, sure do wish you could bring one of your Hurricanes, too!

This is shaping up to be a meet I might enjoy!

See you there, I hope!

BDF

Aaaahhhhh, that explains it.

QuoteBDF,
I like the idea of registration before body work and paint. Smart!

It was my distinct impression that one of the selling features of the Hurricane kit is that the build process allows for the body to be at the painter while the vast majority of the chassis construction is being completed, thereby shortening the build time........NOT criticizing you, BDF, re: your choice to take it to paint after rego.  I know how it goes with these projects and at times finances dictates not only the sequence of events, but the scope, also.

It would be interesting to find out how many builders have chosen to delay the body work till last.....

I'd suspect that moving an operation like was developed in Lee's Summit to TX must have been quite the project, and Chris does have a racing business to which he must also attend.

IMHO, it would be financial folly to invest the kind of $$ it must have cost to procure the Hurricane product line and name and then do nothing with it, and I doubt Chris is that foolish.....personally, I kind of like the idea that he would wait until all the bugs are worked out before he starts taking orders.

I suspect Chris has more irons in the fire than just this one....but that would just be a guess.
