Mark, i'm a long ways from this point, but just curious: where did you get the roll bar mounts for the shoulder straps?

Actually got to work on the car for a few hours.
Cross bar finished, one side pipe installed, and measuring for the wood spoke wheels.



Okay so maybe joking about the wood spoke wheels, how about holding inner fender panel in place till the urethane sets.

Started working on alignment. Car is leveled and rear is straight (relative to the car).
Question; when setting ride height is it not more than just adjusting the spring on the shock, should that be done in conjunction with scales to know where the load is?

I don't think you will change weight bias much without really changing the "stance"

Back in the sixties, a buddy of mine had an old Dodge pickup with a tired six to drive to school. He put a split header on it with dual pipes, made a bed cover and tied a dozed cement blocks in the rear right up against the tailgate. Popped wheels all the time. That would work to change the weight to the back. Not much else to can do other than add weight, no place to deduct. My wife told me to go on a diet if I wanted a lighter, quicker, car.

Okay It took a little talk through with a suspension guru named Morris and five hours later I have at least a base alignment set. That will get me by till I have my appointment at the Highway Patrol office. Then I am going to track down a set of scales and check bump steer.


For you detail guys my settings to start are
Left: -.7 Cam, 4.65 Cas, 1/16" toe in.  Right: -.8 Cam, 4.50 Cas, 1/16" toe in.

Just curious does or did any have any bump steer issues with their Hurricane

The first generation Hurricanes had some issues with bump steer. If you search that term here on the forum, you'll see a lot of discussion about it and my build.  When Hurricane started the Gen II versions, modifications were made in the front supports to allow the rack to be relocated to alleviate some of the issues. 

With that said, there are still manufacturing tolerances and adjustments to get bump steer to a minimum. I suggest you check your car using accepted methods and then adjust the suspension geometry accordingly.
