Back at it one weekend at a time. Some fresh rubber showed up this past week, 295/50 for the rear and 245/60 up front. For a 15" tire, these have some better specs than most 15" tires you find out on the market today.

Last week I wasn't happy with the short banjo fitting on the stock rear calipers and replaced them with a 45 degree banjo, much better to work with. A longer straight would have worked too. Decided on a different way of transitioning from the frame to the rear axle, this will work better too with my setup.

Spacers came in for the front calipers, this was easy and no gap now.

Bent and installed a 30" brake line, no cut or flaring needed between the left and right sides.

Mounted the tank, drilled and tapped the steel frame and installed 1/4"x1" bolts with lock washers and thread locker for studs. Used some 1/16" thick epdm washers between frame angle and tank angle and then backed it up with washers and lock nuts. It's rock solid and going no where. Not sure if  I will add straps or not.
I also began working on the front hard brake lines beginning on the left front and then continuing on to the front right. Once I mount the pedals and master cylinders, I'll work back to them to complete the lines.

Engine assembly coming along...

Greg K

Not much to show for the weekend. Mocked up the pedals and made up the rear brake line. Almost had it in one piece from the rear to the brake switch. When I was making one of the last bends, not paying attention the flare nut was on the wrong side of the bend. So had to cut it and insert a union and make up a small piece to the switch. Having to get another 40" piece for the front line since I made a wrong bend and wasn't happy with the first one I made up. Line for clutch line will be done later after trans is in and cockpit tub is fastened down. Will need to install a brake line adapter on frame to use a braided line to the clutch slave cylinder.
I also decided I would change out the fluid adapters on the masters that will accept braided lines from the remote reservoirs.

Lookin good Greg :) I was on FFR forum looking at some of their builds and ran across a guy that did all brake and fuel in polished stainless and was an absolute work of art. Think I have to at least take a stab at it. Ya know, the more I follow your build the more I like the hammered powder coat. Think I might copy cat ya! Was thinking about epoxy chassis paint but not much more for the powder from a local guy I use here. Are you doing your inner panels in the engine bay the same? Or something different to contrast?

Greg K

Thanks Bruce, copy away...All of my sheet metal is also powder coated the same. Powdercoating was the easy choice for me. My footwells will be painted or add more undercoating/bed liner most likely, wish I had had Hurricane spray the whole tub. Only the engine side dash area firewall will have metal.
I thought about SS, but you won't see much of it and passed.

Earlier I had talked about getting some Hurricane logos made for my wheel caps, they were delivered today and look pretty good based on the artwork I was able to provide.

Motor was on the dyno this morning...about what we expected for what we have in it.

And the plot I generated from the video.

Have had my wheels and tires for a while and figured it was time to get them mounted and balanced.
Brake lines are pretty much done and will install fuel line once engine is installed to determine connection and location of mechanical fuel pump on my engine.
Had to spend some time today also cleaning up and reorganizing a few things to make room for the engine, trans may be another week or two till it's delivered.
And yes I had to throw the wheels and tires on to get a good look.

Greg K

How about a video update and walk around.

Greg K

My fuel level sender came in this week so I mounted it to the tank. Pretty simple thing to do.

Lookin good Greg! Wheels are sharp!

Greg, looking good. Just a thought when I saw your video. You might want to check the steering rack to make sure it moves freely. Mine was faulty and was bending on one end, but I didn't find out until the build was complete and then when I would drive the car the heat from the radiator would cause it to bind up even more and I had to replace the rack. Easier to check it now just is case.
