Dusty

This is a story of a Hurricane owner and wanted me to share with all.

This is the end result of someone pulling out in front of me from a dead stop and I wasdoin 60MPH. Yees, there he was-about 50ft in front of me. I hit the brakes and swerved to the right and the Cobra started to spin and slide to the left. I compensated and the car came straight, past straight and into a 180 spin in the other direction. We were stopped by a very tight chain link fence. It wasn't for a half hour that I knew what was on the other side of the fence-- a 15 foot drop into a watery ditch. The passenger side rear quarter of the car was hanging over the concrete abutment. If the car hadn't stopped when it did, we (my grandson and I) may have met a grave fate. Well, the lesson learned for me is to slow down a little bit and always watch out for the other driver. I must have been in his blind spot...
I drove the car today for the first time since the accident. It was fine. But, the car will get a new paint job, new wheels (I think one hit the concrete when it went over) and I'll be needing all the items for the back of the car, plus roll bar.

Dusty

The owner also wanted to let everyone know even though he was spinning, he never felt like he was going to roll. More like the car was hugging the ground.
So, everyone please be safe out there and be looking out for others as they might not be looking out for you!!!

Wait a second ... I want to hear about the moron that pulled out in front of this cobra owner without yielding!    Aren't they liable in this ordeal in some way?  THEY should pay the damages.

Dusty

This gentleman ended up getting the other guys information but the Hurricane owners insurance is paying for it all. The Hurricane owners insurance will go after that guys insurance and his deductible. In the end it will be the Hurricane owner who will pay no matter what cause of course its covered by his collision insurance and they will raise his rates!
Have to love insurance companies :o

Bob Worley

My daughter was in a similar situation, and our insurance agent told us it would have been better if she had actually hit the other car, then they could claim in on the other driver's insurance.    In the end, we ended up fixing the damage out of our own pocket and left the insurance out of it.

sumbitches.

whew, bet that got the heart pumping...glad to hear that no one was hurt and that Hurricanes are dead flat stable....reminder for all of us to keep our eyes open, even when we are driving boring cars...

Bobby, Got to love them insurance companies >:(
Ken, you are correct about even our daily drivers ;)
Hope everyone stays safe as the summer driving season is fast approching us ;D

Dan

Wow, that's incredible.  The guy that installed the fence deserves a beer.  Had it failed this would likely be a truly tragic story.  Cars can be repaired.

Dusty

Dan, you are correct on all! I am so glad this owner, his grand son and the car are all ok. I have been dealing with the insurance company and can you believe they are trying to only paint half of a custom paint job! lol
