Did some bodywork before the rest of the build, got sick of it, put off till last, had car painted on the frame.

Just my decision. You can do it either way.

BDF- Now that was funny. (It was a son of a gun to find a left handed camshaft  to reverse the engine rotation. But we figured it out . )

It would be interesting to find out how many builders have chosen to delay the body work till last.....

This is my first ground up build and from what I have found doing the body work first would have cost me allot of grief as I've had to modify many of the openings in the body after installing the drivetrain and making changes to the original layout.

my 2 cents.

Dugly, No offense taken, I will be doing all the body work and paint myself. The reason I did final fit is to line up and gap all panels. I also need to make spacers for the hood and trunk to hold them in place as I will be spraying the body and striping it off of the car. Yes, it would have been quicker to send off the body for finishing while I built the chassis. This way I know all will fit and line up once the paint is done. I'm a mechanic and body man from way back. Keep the support coming.

Aaaahhhhh, that explains it.
Retired and attempting to age disgracefully!!

Dugly, I would definitely gap both doors , hood and trunk before sending the body off for finishing. One other thing is the doors do not lone up well with the body in a parallel since. After gaping , pass a skin coat of body filler  around the panels. My hood needs some major building up on the passenger side as does my passenger door to the body. I'm a nut for seams and gaps.
