Is anybody running the hurricane bolt on wheels that look like original halibrand knock offs.  If so i would love to see some pictures of them mounted on the car.
Here is what i am talking about.
Thanks so much!

Fake Knock Offs.... ;D

I don't have any pictures, or know anyone that is using them on their Huirricane except for the 98 car that Mike at Hurricane drives.  I inspected the wheels and thought they were "real knock offs".  The 98 car has the centers painted white and the outer rims are chrome, they look great.

Ask Mike at Hurricane to send you some pictures of the wheels.   ;)

Best Regards, Bill
The trouble with people is not that they don't know , but that they know so much that ain't so.

Hey Chris.

I think Mike W Has them on his car.

He has posted pictures of his wheels and tires on the second page of the Build Pictures section.

They look OK. They are steel rims with plastic/fiberglass covers. They should be fine with the standard brakes/hubs. If you upgrade to the wilwoods, I would recommend aluminum wheels. The wilwood front hub assemblies need an adapter to use steel rims.

Just one more thing to think about!

Evan

someone came by my shop with a shell valley with team III wheels they look like halibrants with spiners in the middle and flanges thet cover the lug nuts they also had that old time rough cast look webbing

I actually have the Team III wheels. I went for the bolt on type to be able to acurately torque them for track use.

See my build thread for pictures.  They take awhile, and are not cheap. But, they are beautiful pieces.

I have the wheels with the fiberglass inserts, and I am having trouble getting wheels that are in good shape. I have had 3 sets now and all of them have been unsatisfactory. The chrome has pits or nicks in them and the edges of the rims are all beat up. It looks like the manufacturer needs to get his act together. I don't know, I might be too picky, but I think that they should not have dents and goughes in the edge of the rims. My Goodyear dealer said that he would not mount tires on them.

Any thoughts?

Hurricane is thrying to get this right for me.

George, I have the wheels with the fiberglass inserts as well. The only problem I had with the wheels was that one of the rear wheels had a bent rim, but it looked like the shipper (UPS I think) may have hit it with a fork truck. Hurricane sent a new right away and it was fine. Sorry to hear you're have difficulties.

My front inserts will not fit into the rims....has anyone else had this problem....I have sanded down the edges (as suggested by HM) and they dont fit for s**T.   There are large gaps between the insert and the rim.  The rear ones fit fine.

Hi Sam,
Yeah, it has been frustrating to say the least. Hurricane has been great about working on it for me. I am ssure they will get it corrected . It is hard to tell if the problem is handling in shipping or poor product from the manufacturer. (?) They have been delivered in single one layer cardboard boxes and the wheels have cut right through the cardboard. They need to be packed a little better form the supplier.
Glad to hear that yours are OK. I'm sure mine will be.
Thanks,

George

Chris, I tried my front inserts and they seem to fit OK. Now if I can just get some decent wheels.

Chris,
The front set of fiberglass inserts for your wheels should be smaller than the back. Mine fit ok!!
It almost sounds like they gave you two sets of back ones. Did your front ones have a sticker on them that said Front ?
HM-1064

Chris D

they are the same size...2 labeled front...2 labeled rear.

I will send the fronts back.

Thanks Guys
Chris

I'm having the same problem the fronts don't fit right, will double check to see if they are the same front and back. The problem is, they are to wide and over hang the wheel.

Sounds like your having the same issue.
Keep me posted.

Thanks Randy
