Is a Radio worth having?

Was wondeirng how many people installed a Radio in their car, and is it worth it?  I'm sure you would need amps to push the sound to a level you could hear it.  And at the same time would add to you going deaf sooner.

Yep, those big pipes are my radio.

The real answer is that No, I can't see how anyone could use a radio and get benefit from it.  Just too loud in the cockpit with exhaust, engine, wind noise.  I don't think it's real useable.

I was thinking of just mounting an amp in the trunk and having a connection for my I-pod hidden under the dash but I'm also re-thinking that Idea
I do not really like the way the speakers look cut in behind the seats and there is no room under the dash I realize the radio would be for traffic use only underway you would only hear muffling

If your thinking of installing one you might check out the Factory Five forum. I lot of those guys have installed radios in their cars and you can probably find a lot of info on it there.

I am in the minority, so here is my 2 cents. But when I build mine I am going to put a radio in. Back in the day I had a 1970 Trans-Am with side pipes. Granted I had to turn the radio up quite a bit when I rode around with the windows down, but I really enjoy driving with music. It is very rare for me to not have my radio on to this day and I don

I had a 67 Corvette roadster with a 427 and sidepipes and yes, you could hear the radio fine (probably the same as your Trans-Am). On those cars, the exhaust outlet is lower and further behind you than on a Cobra. I think if you drive/ride in a Cobra, you'll find that you won't hear anything but the exhaust as the outlet is basically right next to you.
