we all know if money spent with knowlagable intentions thus our gains will be greater, that said i could build something else
with the money saved toward the next project and still have double the fun. now stop with the bb and sb stuff because we'll use prouducts what ever they are as long as they are functioning and what can be afforded. with quality of course always costs.
i like the the bouts but differnt strokes no pun intented for well different folks corny but my point is are yall enjoying your selves
because sharing to me is the most rewarding point and thats what drives to all of our own opionions bb sb red blue are we having fun yet.
well ill here from yous later
typn' on the dark side soon.

Jim,

The 65 side oiler re-pop, is cast in aluminum with date codes, by both Robert Pond Motorsports, and Genesis, although the Genesis blocks may be harder to get.  They are side oilers, and it was $1000 more for the aluminum, compared to their steel counterpart.  They are not original, but they are REAL.   ;D

There, I got that "REAL" one in there too.   [smiley=evil.gif]

I did a search on them. $8K for an Al. short block ain't too bad. I've owned many small & big blocks (all Chevrolet).  I don't want to get into a pizzing match as to which is best because there is no answer to that question. Each has it's own advantages and dis-advantages. However, that being said, I didn't want to put a BB in a 2300lb. that will get zero traction regardless of motor choice. :)

QuoteIf it's a 427 S/C, it's gotta be a FE. I took a 390, bored .030 then stroked with Scat kit to go to 431"

I am hung up on originality (within rea$on - I can't afford a $ide-oiler). The motor must be either an FE or a 289. Other options don't exist.

Paul

I agree, Paul.
Retired and attempting to age disgracefully!!

If you've already lived with a 289, then ignore my advice.  My last Cobra had a 289 that pulled nicely up to (gulp) 9K RPM.  It was a SCREAMER at anything above 5K.  But it lacked ANY low end torque and thus, I found it not so much fun to drive around town.  The 4.56 gears helped, but it just wasn't a big block.  That's why THIS one has a 428FE!
