Owners please tell be about the build manual?

1. How complete is it?
2. # of pages?
3. Is it listed in sequential order, can you skip, or is it by sub-systems?
4. Would you change it, how could it be improved?

Thanks, been looking at FFR for years and there always is a lot of info on the build manual, you can even purchase it before you buy a kit, the have it deducted from your order.

Does hurricane do this also?

Any extra info would be great.

I don't have a basis to compare to any other kit, but I thought the manual was fairly complete with pictures also.  I didn't feel that I had any obstacle that I couldn't overcome with the manual and the owner's web site.  If that didn't work, Hurricane stands strongly behind their product and frequently, someone on their staff will answer questions on the site.

I suppose you could change the steps that you install, but I think it would be easier to follow the steps in the order given.  The manual does have hints or options to install items that may be easier to do one way vs. another.  I can't think of much I would change if given the chance that hasn't already been addressed with an addendum from Hurricane.

You can purchase it ahead of time like I did. I bought it 2 months before I decided to purchase and they deducted it from my kit price.

Ranman,
The manual is about 150 pages, more or less. Sorry, I didn't count them and I don't have it here in front of me. It is laid out in a logical assembly sequence, each section includes a list of parts and any special tools or items needed. In addition to the written, step by steps, it also is illustrated profusely with photo's of the actual item or procedure. It is very complete.

It is your choice to bounce around or follow their recommendations...

A copy is available from Tamara for $50 and they'll deduct it from your purchase price, if you wish. I purchased one prior to buying my kit, to become more familiar with the whole process. My logic was I will gamble $50 to find out how complete it is and it would give testimony to how they conduct business. I was very pleasantly surprised - it just added additional confirmation that Hurricane is a good buy.

The current manual does not include info on the IRS, which I purchased. But I understand it is coming shortly.

Hope this helps

I ordered my manual before i placed my order because i don't like surprizes. I don't see any. Things are relatively straight forward. Remember too that reading text to understand what is to be done is harder for most mechanical people than doing it or seeing the process completed or in stages. I have 18 years as an electrical/HVAC instructor and 18 years in the field doing that type of work, so I know where its at with instruction manuals.  :)

Helpful Hint:

Check-out Ryan Cassidys  site, also the build pictures sections, and other details with pictures on the Hurricane forum.  Copy them, use for reference later in the appropriate sections of the build manual.
This is what I've done and its given me a better (view) of things and shows what other builders have done...a lot of great ideas to compare with.

Anyway,  Best of luck with your build...it's will be fairly easy..don't sweat it , enjoy it and have great fun!

The trouble with people is not that they don't know , but that they know so much that ain't so.
