This wheel is a low cost alternative to the Halibrand style knock off wheel. It is a DOT approved bolt on rim with cosmetic 6 spoke center attached with a three wing spinner. These wheels have the excellent appearance of the original wheels at a fraction of the cost.

Cost $895.00

[b]Has anybody purchased these rims from hurricane?
Are they any good?

Who actually makes these rims? would like to so research on them.

ranman,
I have seen the wheels. They use a standard chrome Ford steel wheel, like you would see on a truck, one with holes in the hub. Hurricane then produces a fiberglass insert that bolts in the center of the wheel, like a hubcap that makes up the center section.

The wheel is mounted with a centercap, similar to what is used on a fourwheel drive hub. An adapter is bolted to it and the normal spinner is threaded onto it.

When it is all assembled, it looks identical to a set of Halibrands, Trigo's, etc. Except it is about $1000 cheaper and you can use a normal spare tire if needed.

If I hadn't already bought a set of Trigo's, I would have sprung for the option

There is also a post that shows closeups. Look at the Street 427 (http://forum.hurricane-motorsports.com/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1154539144;start=all  Scroll down to post #16 and the few following it. It has a picture of the wheel and more info.

Did any of you guys pass your initial safety inspection with 15" rims in NJ?
I really like these rims and want to order them with my kit but I heard on another forum that the nj inspector said if it had 15" rims he would not have passed it because of run flat road clearance issues. Is the Hurricane far enough off the ground with these rims that it will pass ok? Thanks
