Phil,
Not sure if this helps, but here you go.

There's also another site I remember but can't find now.  I'll look more when I get off work.  It had good pics of before and after and what steps they used to get rid of orange peel.

Its Painted.... :) :)

I scratched the idea of the candy...To hard for an amature... ;)

I sanded the car back down and Painted a HOK Glamour Metallic Stretto Blue Base

I will clear it tomorrow...everything went really well..

I'm very pleased with the results...it has its imperfections..but each imperfection follows a story of me, my Dad and my Son.

LIFE IS GOOD 8-) 8-) 8-)

Looks good.  My thoughts on "Imperfections?"  Some will say it's a cop-out, but I don't mind minor imperfections in ANY car.  Every car I've ever owned has been there for me to DRIVE.  Every car I've ever driven has gotten dings, chips, scratches, etc.  Heck, I've bought some brand-new cars that have come with paint blemishes.  I can't see spending a major portion of my life making the finish absolutely perfect, only to cry when it takes it's first chip.  Heck, 1042 is still in epoxy primer.  I trailered it out to NM and when I unloaded it I noticed it had a paint chip on the front of one of the rear fenders.  And that's with ZERO miles on it!  Imagine me crying my eyes out had I just spent weeks on that perfect paint job.

Anyway... speech-mode off.  I think you've done a GREAT job on your car.  Even screwing up the candy base gave you good experience.  You're now officially one more step ahead of a lot of us.  you should feel great about your work!
