Back to the cockpit now, pulled the seats and started working on interior panels, moving wire looms out of cockpit and some door sill trim fitment.

Finished installing the inner metal panels. Body bolts and wire loom hidden now, panels sealed underneath and under door opening lip, Will be leaving the powder coated latch striker bracket exposed and carpet will be installed tight around it. Hex bolts will be changed out for chrome button heads as will the door bracket bolts.

Been working on padding and carpet to fit before it goes for paint. Used the original carpet kit as template to cut new pieces, everything is oversized and plenty to trim. Been able to get the foot box area fitted and under the doors. Under seat areas and back wall are easy, the wheel wells will be my challenge when I get to them.
I'm using a thinner pad and a synthetic square weave I was able to find in a charcoal color. Once I get the pieces fitted, will get many of the edges bound. Hard to believe the cockpit takes all of 10 square yards and doesn't include the trunk.

Was able to get to the floor pieces fitted this afternoon. My overhead lights created a shadow line, carpet is darker than what my camera is capturing.

Spent a little time with the padding on the trans and driveshaft tunnel. Fit the carpet to the driveshaft tunnel. I am really liking this carpet. I'll trim and fit the trans tunnel piece tomorrow.

Had the day off so I worked on more pad and carpet fitting. I wasn't liking how a single piece of carpet was working our for me, since the trans tunnel has multiple angles in the transition, ended up making it in two pieces and lays down really well. The lower piece will get bound and overlay the upper piece a bit. Back wall got fitted as well today. I also plan to do the wheel wells in two pieces and making templates with padding at the moment, the dent will get built up with additional padding to smooth them out.

Picked up the pieces of carpet I had black vinyl binding added to today. Just a couple sample pics of the binding. Should give it a nice finished look once all assembled and installed.
Soon the tear down will be happening to send the car to my painter.

I've been wanting some sort of tow hook for some time for that occasion we all dread. Since there are not many spots on the car to latch onto, i came across the new Bronco's rear tow hook and picked one up to see if it'd work. I plan to mount it on the 1x2 right behind where they are stacked, the drop is 2-1/2" to the bottom of the loop and will be mounted with two 1/2" bolts.

Had this aluminum heel guard plate made recently that will be placed on top of the carpet. The tear down has begun and have the front lights, windshield, quick jacks left and side pipes left to do.

Spent some time today making vent screens for the openings in the front of the body. Two for the brake duct  and one for the oil cooler location. Material is a a welded stainless screen, a little smaller openings than the aluminum ones you see out there. Made some blanks to form them over out of 3/4 oak and beat them over with a hammer and trimmed them to fit. The oil cooler opening will just be rectangular and I'll break the sides to fit.

I did the same thing for my Cobra. They look great.
