Hey guys, is anyone running the midshift option?  Just wondering if anyone can post some pics of how the shifter looks/fits in the cockpit - i'm curious if a straight shifter can be used if in the mid position.

thanks!

I'm not sure if I've seen it in a Hurricane, but I have seen photos of a short, straight shifter in the mid position.  I like it, particularly for a 289 model.  I do remember that the one I saw used a Fairlane shifter.

For some reason, I've never been a fan of the look of that long, curved shifter with the lockout.  I know it's period correct, but ...............

Sorry I couldn't steer you to the photos, maybe those who have built or are building can provide something.  I suspect there's a lot of ths sort of stuff on "The Dark Side".

I looked into it but found that the position of the shifter is too far foward. I did not use the shifter in the kit. I used a straight shifter about 7" high with the back position on the tranny. Check out the build pics section #1077.

Erik, I checked out every photo on your build thread but didn't see one with the shifter installed and the body on.

Hey guys, thanks for the feed back.
Eric, sweet ride by the way!!  From the build pics, looks like the shifter is installed in the farther-back of the 2 options in the rear position.  Did you try the position that's just in front of it (looks about 3")?
thanks again,
Mark

Thanks, Eric, did so and found the photo.  I'm sort of like Mark, would like to know if you gave a thought to the position right forward of the rearmost mount.  From the looks of the photo in the finished kit section, it looks like it might be a tight fit where the trim ring is closest to the section of the "console" where it angles downward.  What I'm trying to accomplish is a shifter handle without a forward bend in it, thought that a straight handle, ala Hurst's, might work in a little bit more forward position??  I know I've seen that look on a Cobra kit photo before, not sure where, but there was mention it was achieved with an old Fairlane shifter (most likely on an old Top Loader 4 speed, not one of the TKO's).

Thanks, again, for the tip and the photos!
