I just have to work out some leaks in my brake lines and trim up my sterring rack and I'm gonna take the go-cart for its first spin...This should happen this weekend...I'll post another video of the "Her First Steps"....baby steps first.

Phil, That had to be the greatest feeling ever. You are so far ahead of some of us and doing a very nice job. It is so nice to see your family envolved.  Just to give a heads up on what I heard, You have may have header leak on at least one side and also a loose rocker arm. The clutch also may need to be bled or adjusted so it doesn't grind as it did.

Phil Berania

You hit the nail on the head
Your excactly right about the valves, exhaust and clutch.
I just wanted to take her for a short walk.
In fact I just got done adjusting the valves tonight. I'll adjust the clutch tomorrow, and I'm taking off the exhaust to get Ceramic Coated this week-end.

I'm just like a kid in a candy store. ;D

Don't Tread on Me!

LMH

Hey Scott
I was just thinking the other day we hadn't heard from you in a couple months! Hows the build going?
Larry

Apparently I ddnt set up the Valve Train correctly.
Remember this is my first time building an Engine, so be gentle on me

When I set up the Roller Rockers, all I did was go to each rocker and snug it down untill the push rod had no play in it and then gave it a Half Turn. I went down the entire valve train and set each Rocker the same way...Apparently thats WRONG.

Apparently I'm supposed to do it in some "Secrete Squirel Code" sequence that I was not aware of. Can someone please explaine to me the proper sequence....And Please try to expaine it as if you were talking to a 10 year old kid.

This is why my valve train is tapping its rear end off.....

Help me please

You are partially correct.

From the internet:

Pick a cylinder.
Bump the motor until the Exhaust valve starts up. Intake is now on base circle.
Loosen the intake lock nut.
WAIT a minute or so, to let the plunger relax.
Twirl intake pushrod between thumb and forefinger (hold gently) and tighten the lock nut until you feel the pushrod stop turning. A little practice is all it takes. You will know - it stops right away, unless you are turning it with pliers. This is zero lash.
Tighten locknut 1/2~3/4 turn.
Bump the motor until the Intake is almost down. Exhaust is now on base circle.
Loosen the exhaust lock nut.
WAIT a minute or so, to let the plunger relax.
Twirl exhaust pushrod between thumb and forefinger (hold gently) , etc...
Tighten locknut 1/2~3/4 turn.
Repeat as necessary.
If you go 1 cylinder at a time, you won't screw up or get confused or need a checklist. There IS a faster way - use it between rounds at the races, or to save time on the dyno. You have the time, go slow and you won't have to second guess after you put the valve covers on.

That is assuming you have hydraulic lifters. Solid lifters are done differently.

Oh yeah... the ignition switch is on the way.
