Anyone done Bear Claw door latches? I realize the ones supplied are period correct. But man they are a pain.

Have thought about them as well and have some ideas, just haven't got around to buying a set to see where to place them and get them to work on the doors. The striker is easy enough in my mind, latch on door is what needs to be worked out.

yea. Would need to create some kind of access to mount. maybe a hole back where you could cover with door panel? I'm going to do some research and figure it out. The supplied are not acceptable for me. on the drivers side, the door sits so far forward that the rear latch bracket would need to stick out into the door jam in order to latch. not happening. As far as the striker, its just a matter of building a bracket to bolt to the upright supports like you say. Let me know if you see or think of anything.

This is one of the better installs for a gator or bear claw latch. Multiple videos detailing this install on the other brand. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCF1MEULspFIKLhkd5T1P1YQ/videos
Ours is designed different in the latch area which poses challenges because of the pad location and depth of the door in this area.

Yea after digging around online and looking at specs and taking measurements. Looks like I'm going to order the slimline Bear Jaw from Speedway that comes with the metal bracket. I'll cut out the pad area on the door and rebuild it to fit the bracket. Not a real big deal. Still need to solve the problem of my door jam being so far forward though :(

Actually. After sitting and looking at it and pondering for a bit. Think I will just cut out that whole rear jam and move it back while I'm modifying the pad area for the bear claws. Not that much more work and will save having to do anything on front edge, which is much more difficult. Ive got a plan :)
