Hey Guys,  I wanted to ask you all about mounting the sidepipes.  After talking to a Gen 1 owner he mentioned that the sidepipes may be rigidly mounted to the chassi.  I was wondering what your experience has been with this setup and if you recommend going with something more flexible.  If you do recommend something more flexible what would it be?

Aaron, we have ours mounted with the tab on the side pipe to chassis, the only change I made was to enlarge the hole in the tab and install a rubber isolator so it does have some movement. The current Hurricane design with the flanges at the headers mount solid and so the pipe needs to be able to move some (motor torque). I don't believe this was same on the 1000 series cars that have slip fit side pipes, theirs may have needed to be solid mount.

If I recall correctly mine was mounted with a rubber "biscuit" between the tab and the frame.

My Gen II came with the rubber isolator to put between the tab and frame. With the poly motor mounts there isn't much movement.

Has anyone used the energy suspension motor mounts?

Yes. I'm using Energy Suspension 4-1124G motor mounts and transmission mount.  Fit perfectly.

BTW the part number for the rubber isolator between side pipe and frame is Patriot Exhaust H7241. I think it comes from Pertronix Performance Products.

Russ, Does that rubber exhaust isolater come with the car or is that something separate that you have to purchase?

It came with my car.  It appears to be a high temperature rubber washer approximately 1/4" thick or so.
