World Products Man O'War 427

Has anyone heard any information about World Products Man O'War 427? What type of reputation do they have? Is the engine good? Does the company stand behind their product? Things like that.

They just came out with their aluminum 9.5" deck block, which I'm really impressed with. However, the price is too steep for me. I can buy two Dart blocks in cast iron for the price of one aluminum block.
And I don't need two cast iron blocks, so...

I only have experience with the man-o war 8.2 deck ford block that comes with a 4.115 bore and is meant to be finished at 4.125. It is a massively built block. I will be assembling it in the next 3 weeks or so. It needed to be line honed and by the time the decks were 90 degrees to one another and parrallel to the crank bore centerline the deck was only about 8.193 which means I need to cut the pistons but rotating assembly is balanced already so I will just go with a .051 gasket from cometic gasket. My machinest says that that is common with aftermarket blocks. Go for the AL block! Good luck!

Louis, since you have one of the blocks I'm considering, I'd like to ask a question--is it configured to accept roller lifters?  I'd like to run solid roller lifters in my engine.

I was thinking of the same set up, solid rollers but have been reading a lot about them not working for a street engine. Not enough oil flow when engine is at idle and the rollers just beat themselves to death. I'm now leaning towards solid flat lifters. Just FYI.

I have been researching different Cobra manufacturers and I hope to join the Hurricane family next year. I have looked at several manufacturers for the last year and a half and have decided to go with Hurricane. That is one of the reasons I joined the forum. I am now looking at crate engines. I want a carbureted 427W with aluminum heads outputting approximately 500 hp and 500 ft/lbs. and one of the engine manufacturers I have been looking at is World Products. I have also heard good things about Keith Craft and Smeding.

I hear they make a really good motor.  I ended up going with a Keith Craft motor.  He is another very good builder.

well  i read enough that this is one of the strongest blocks available i mean if what i ve read on other sites and forums and manufacture, bill mitchell alum.block darn sweet . darn pricey im scared.
