I was wondering what the driving position was like in the Hurricane. Is it a comfortable position to drive in? I know it has dropped floors so you have a place to put your feet. How is steering wheel height and position for driving? Are your feet skewed far off to the left ? For those of you with a Big Block how hard is the manual steering ? Would you recommend power steering if thats an option? I am planning an automatic c6 build but may switch back to stick if my knee improves. Is the clutch pedal far to the left at a weird angle? How is the body structure , does it have a lot of body shake etc? Thanks :)

Hey Brad, what do you think of your position? (remember, this is a family-friendly forum! ;))

I have a small block 427w.  If you are not used to driving a manual and have big feet there will be a slight learning curve of course.  Lets face it, in any cobra it's pretty tight down there.  Personally, I've found it pretty easy to get used to and drive.  Manual steering works good and the pedals are spaced accordingly to my driving style.  That is left foot = clutch.  Right foot controls break with left half and gas with right half unless I'm wide open on one or the other for some reason.

Thank you for your input. I am about ready to order and one of my final decisions was on power steering with a 429 big block. Seems it isn't really needed. Do you know if the firewall/interior has different demensions according to engine type or are they the same? :)

The interior dimensons are different from SB to BB. The kit for a BB has a narrower footbox.

I've driven a couple FE powered Cobras (one Kirkham, one ERA) and I think power steering would be over kill. Neither was too hard to steer and PS tends to take away the 'feel'.
Just my opnion of course.

I missed this one here, but replied over on CC.  It seems like I drive for a living, and go thru daily drivers every couple of years.  It's amazing how many production cars of today are off center one way or another.  The FE/Hurricane combination points your legs and feet towards the headlight.  Funny thing is I didn't notice until someone else sat in it, and pointed it out to me.  I have broad shoulders and wide feet, and find the driving position, and pedals to be comfortable, and the manual steering has not been a problem even in tight quarters.  I honestly can not believe how solid this car runs down the road!  I did not expect such a solid ride quality in a "kit" car.

Good luck with your build!
