General Information / Hurricane in KitCar mag
June 07, 2007, 10:49:01 AM
I don't recall seeing Hurricane in Kit Car.  Just wondering why?  Seems that all of the well known and discussed Cobra replica companies have ads or articles in the mag.  Why not HMS?

Thanks,
Doug

Mike Arps,
Do you have any pics of the production model under car exhaust option?
Would love to see the setup.

Thanks,
Doug

General Information / Under Car Exhaust Option
May 15, 2007, 11:37:43 AM
Hi,
Has anyone purchased the "Street" version or the under car exhaust option for their Roadster build?  Just wondering if someone would post some pics and/or opinions of the under car setup.

I like the look of the side pipes, but would go with the under car exhaust if it reduces the dB's by a significant amount.  It seems that the pipes would be longer and exit behind the car vs behind the doors, so the dB level in the cockpit should be lower.

Thanks,
Doug

General Information / Carlisle Kit Show
March 08, 2007, 08:39:35 PM
Any chance Hurricane will be at Carlisle in 2007?  The Import/Kit Car Show is in mid May.

I went last year for the first time and had a great time seeing the cars and talking with a ton of vendors.  Would love to be able to see a Hurricane up close.

General Information / Re: Bowtie Cobra?

Sid,
What size are your rims?  Backspacing?  It's hard to get a good view from the drag strip pic, but they seem to have a nice deep dish look.

I'm really torn between old school 15" rims vs modern 17" or 18".  As you know, period correctness is not a priority for me, so it's just a question of preference  ;)

Thanks again,
Doug

General Information / Bowtie Cobra?

Any pics of a Hurricane with a GM 350 under the hood?
Is it a real pain in the butt to use a non Ford motor?

I know anything is possible with skills and money, but I would be a first time builder and want to keep things as straight forward as possible.

Just a general comment on the 'DarkSide'.  I'm sure there are a lot of questions that non owners could help answer.  Anyting related to say, welding, fiberglass prep, engine/tranny related questions, etc.  Also, it would be helpful for potential future owners/builders (like myself) to learn by the experiences of current owners.  Helpful hints that may be discussed on the DarkSide would help me to plan my build and maybe make the difference between my selection, Hurricane vs a FF.

One man's opinion:  I think all would benefit if the forums were public.

General Information / Western NY Hurricanes?

I've seen a couple local FFRs, but would like to take a look at a Hurricane.  Anyone near Rochester, NY?

Thanks,
Doug

General Information / Re: Roll Bar Question
September 27, 2006, 03:07:49 PM
Any pics of the full width roll bar?  I asked Hurricane about it and was told that it is an option.  Has anyone decided to go with it?  For the type of driving I would do, I probably don't even need one, but I like the look of the full width style.
Thanks,
Doug

From what I can see in the pictures showing the brake parts, it looks like the example car is set up with pin drive adapters.

General Information / How Loud?

I know, it depends on the engine, right?
If you go to the FFR forum there are tons of threads dealing with how to quiet down the side pipes so you don't go deaf.

I have a Jeep, so I understand road noise and open cockpit driving.  I'm fine with that, but I don't want to need ear plugs while driving my car.  I want to be able to hear the sirens as well as see the flashing lights behind me  ;)

So what's the deal?  Do you need to modify the pipes or do they do a good job as is?
Thanks,
Doug
