Considering the status of the Texas bunch who bought Hurricane.  I wonder how much longer this web site will be up?

Doing cost comparisons of various kits.  So far a Unique looks to be about $4,000 more than a roughly equal IRS Factory Five kit.  Not too much on the FF butt-in-the-air stance though and a few other details.  I'm going to go down the ERA parts list tonight but they have always seemed very high (but a high quality car also).

Dan, you might want to check out Unique Motorcars, here's a link:

http://www.uniquemotorcars.com/

Unique offers both 427 and 289 models and they have been in the business for a long time.

QuoteTry ERA

ERA builds a beautiful car but I haven't figured any way it can be reasonable in price.

I was planning to buy a street car kit as a retirement project this year.  What a shame that some crooked assholes can buy a reputable company selling a great product and run it into the ground in a few months.   I don't know of anyone else selling an affordable street Cobra version.

They promptly answered an email I sent asking when they plan to resume taking orders.  The note said sometime in January.

Let me ask this - what does a 460 weigh with aluminum heads and intake?

I've been studying this lower rocker panel issue on the Street Cobra a little more in trying to pinpoint what is different from the originals.

Hurricane seems to make mid-course corrections as they can, like moving the side louver location.  Maybe as they get a little time they will find a way to extend the rocker down as your illustration shows.   I don't see how it would hurt the side pipe car if it was extended there also.  At first I actually missed what you had done with Photoshop on your first post but I see it now.   :)

Are you asking if the rocker panel contour on the Hurricane matches the original?

QuoteAnother option if you want to try it at home without some of the mess, would be to use a water based paint.

Well, I've been mulling this over too.

:)Alright - street dash, glove box, no hood scoop - I love it.

In response to an email yesterday, Mike said they have it painted but the chassis is not all assembled yet.  He said they will have it together before long and post some photos on the forum as soon as it's complete.
