Important Information / Re: Hurricane Factory Car
March 03, 2010, 01:19:07 PM
Matt, The ones you show in the first picture were from the first supplier for Hurricane. They quit using them and went with ones like what's shown in your second picture (like the Superformance). I don't know the exact change over but it was before mine was built. I sure like the new flange though (a copy of the FFR).

General Information / Re: Tonneau Cover?

QuoteI seem to recall one of our fellow Hurricane owners had one made to fit his car by the husband/wife team that posts on the FFR site. It's a snapless cover, runs somewhere under $200 if I recall correctly. I have an email out to them to get more info on price.

I made my own using their idea and improving on it. I wanted it to fit better and secure around the roll bar. They wanted over $350 to make one with the modifications so I made a pattern and my wife made one, embroidered a Cobra on it and made a storage cover. Pictures are in my "Finished" thread.

Got mine today. Definately a classy move by the new owners. A suggestion would be to also send flyers to be handed out to interested parties.

I thought EVERY Cobra owner had one of those. Get them on E-Bay for about $10.

Dan

I either have to drink more or less because in my current state (nice buzz), I don't have the slightest idea what you said. ;D

No new orders have been taken since long before the sale of Hurricane. There are a couple of people that were promised a few parts. Unfortunately they will probably never see them but at least everyone that ordered a car, received one.

QuoteResearch the Dallas Morning News or FT worth star Telegram and search for Ray White or crw investments.

Jay,

Okay, you were part of the new Hurricane but something fell apart in the deal. That's fine. Then the new owners that ousted you are screwing things up. That's fine too. I don't see any purpose of your grade school comments other than to try to stir the pot. You are no longer a part of Hurricane, if it even still exists. Time to get over it, grow up and move on. ::)

General Information / Re: same old question

QuoteI had decided to go with Hurricane, but by the time I was ready to order everything had started falling apart. I waited a few months and just was not comfortable with the way things seemed to progress (or lack of progression in this case). So I moved on to another vendor. I have been very happy so far with my kit and it is slowly coming along. My advice would be to move along if you want to start building something this year.
Good Luck.

Good advice. Enjoy your build. To me, that's the best part.

Remember, silence is golden  ;D. Seriously, I wouldn't get my hopes up. Come down south a bit and buy mine. That way you don't have to mess with that "assembly stuff". ;)

General Information / Re: Still in business?

If by "in business" you mean actually making and selling kits, Hurricane has been out of business for a year. If you want a Cobra, either buy one already finished (there's some great deals out there) or go with a different company. Even if Hurricane started up again, their past actions would prohibit me from buying from them or recommending them to anyone.

I agree with all the above but something not mentioned is that the complete footbox is made from solid steel. This offers protection from road debris that few, if any, other kits offer. Definately look at the build threads and finished car threads. I researched Cobra replicas for over 15 years before I chose a Hurricane. I went to the Western States Cobra Bash last year in Reno and looked at hundreds of Cobras from every manufacturer out there (I was already finished building mine). I left that event knowing that I had made the correct choice.
