I guess I must of had too many beers when I posted this comment about selling my car . I am still driving it frequently and have had little problems with the car . I have been researching articles in the forum that pertain to brake issues and upgrades . My car has the original GM metric brakes on the front and ?? on the 9" rear . The car stops OK but man you have to stand on the darn pedal
to get the car to brake quickly . I have researched the forum and there is lots of good advice . Last Fall I drove my car almost 300 miles on Texas back roads and had a blast . I have put heat
shields on my side pipes and that has been good for the new riders and kids that got nicked a few times by the hot pipes . When I wanted to sell my car a while back I was thinking of a Daytona
Coupe but that was short lived and I will keep my car now in perpetuity.......I gave it to my son so I won't be tempted to sell the car again and he lets me drive it . My dreams came true and
I still thumbs up and people most of the time come and take pictures when I am getting fuel . I let the little tikes stand in the seat and hold on to the steering wheel and the grin they have is
something special for me . I am always asked : " Are you sure you don't mind my child standing on your seat cover ? " .....Nope I sure don't . I was in the auto glass & upholstery business for
40 years and I just recently recovered and re-padded my driver seat bottom cushion . I am a pretty big guy and I open the door and stand on the seat to get into the car myself . I hope all you
Hurricane owners have as much fun as I have had and It was worth all the time and effort and money for me to get my dream car !  Drive it hard and safe and good luck to all . P.S. If I would
have wanted a FFR car I would have bought one ! ;) :)

I have 5500 miles on my car trouble free . Once I bought an engine from Kieth Craft engines my previous engine problem was eliminated . Also the hell I went trough with a Lakewood bell housing was totally fixed with a Quicktime bell housing and have not had any problems since . I give my car hell and the TKO 600 has performed flawlessly . I originally bought an engine from Fordstroker
.com and it was junk . KC engines said the machining looked like a novice first time  engine build . The only regret I have now I wished I had used a new World block . The car handles nicely and
after I learned how to launch the car straight it has been a blast . I have planned some  future mods and one mistake I made was not going with a better brakes , The stock braked work great
but you have to be Charles Atlas to stop the car quickly . I should have went with the  Willwood brakes , but it you man handle the car and pay attention the original Chevy metric brakes are OK.
I have had the car over a 150 mph and it felt like it was going to lift off the road . During that idiotic run my visors got to flapping and I broke my windshield . A crack in the upper corner and not
in the line of sight for normal driving . I do plane on a new glass . I get lots of compliments and I have given maybe 25 rides . Little kids go ape **** and I have let several kids sit in the car for pictures . Overall a wonderful experience and I am please I bought this car over some other Cobra manufacturers . I still get testy with people who ask me if the car is a FFR ......I tell them that
I have a car better than a  FFR . If I wanted one I would have bought one . The Texas heat has been a cause for not driving my car because it is frankly an oven . I do drive my car often in the
Fall and Winter months . I am a big time lover of 40-41 Ford pickups and I have thought about selling my car ........but when I drive it the thought disappears. It is a fun and dependable car now
and I see it in the family for many more years ............I will always be thankful for the late Jay Nordstroms help and encouragement to finish this car ..........Not just another replica . It looks real enough for me in 2020 .

It's a long story but my Cobra caught on fire in my shop two weeks ago . I was able to stop the fire quickly but my car looks like hell and since I am not planning on ever selling
my car I have been working on improvements to my car . I have stripped all the cut pile  carpet and will be installing loop style carpet with the plastic backing . I have dropped
the seating and have given myself 1 1/2 " lower seat set in the car. During the confusion of putting out the carb fire I tripped over a half gallon of red alkyd enamel and of
course the the damned thing landed just right and red paint was all over the rear area of my pretty Viper blue . I am to the buffing stage and am happy I didn't lose my car !

I will remake the header on the Gen. I one car . They fit like a first time welder built them...........more to come as in pics .           Mike

I didn't know Jay well but he came to my house and picked my car up and took it to Dallas and had new paint and carpet installed at his expense during the Lee's Summit-Dallas Texas
move . I called him and thanked him and he said .........Go enjoy your car Mike and come see me .  What a guy ! ........My car will forever be to me , HM1121 Jay Nordstrom Special Edition.

Build Pictures / Re: HM 1121 coming home
June 07, 2008, 02:20:26 PM
I should have mentioned the car was a turn key minus! ,sorry.
I will take some photos of the final completion too . It was
sad to see the Hurricane  shop closing and my car being the last one out
the door . I certainly hope, as well as many others do ,that the
Hurricane line will continue soon . I still have no regrets choosing
this car over the other kits I looked into. However, they all seemed to have
their good and bad points . This was the car for me and my budget.

427W 3.50 rear TKO 600 is what I am using for the drivetrain . Thanks Jason !!
