General Information / Re: suspension questions
August 31, 2007, 11:20:37 AM
thanks Rich for the info, everything on these cars is a package deal,it all has to work together properly to be safe and give good ride quality.Ive read where some other companies have had problems with various suspension parts and when I build mine I only want to do it one time,I dont want to be worried about hitting a dip in the road and something happening.I know there are different upgrades available for brakes and shocks ect.,but I want to do it right the first time.I guess I will have to take some of these guys up on their offers to meet them to check out their rides.I would think the posi unit should be standard on the kit instead of an upgrade because the standard unit is probably useless in these cars, just a thought :) I dont know if you guys go to many shows or events that arent  kinda local to you,but if so ,maybe consider a big show thats held twice a year in moultrie ga. its one of the biggest in the southeast drawing several hundred thousand people over each of the 3 day shows.may be some good exposure if youre interested.thanks again,I somehow feel drawn to the dark side ;D

General Information / suspension questions
August 30, 2007, 04:35:16 PM
still shopping the different companies and have a few questions about the front suspension.I see where FFR is offering a donerless kit now ,but I think it still uses the same old mustang front suspension that Ive heard leads to a kind of odd steering angle, not the best for a roadster, not terrible but could be improved upon.Anyone able to shed a little more light on the details on the HMS front suspension?I tend to over think things like that,I still am leaning toward HMS,it seems to be the best value to me,but im a stickler for the details so any info would be helpful         thanks

I can see both sides, from a newbie standpoint it would be nice to be able to see info not available to the general population so you owners dont have to be continuously bombarded with the same questions over and over.so far I have felt welcome here and everyone has been more than willing to answer anything posted. You all seem to me to be a first class bunch. That being said I cannot disagree with the old saying "Membership has its privileges". what ever you decide Im ok with

you can build a nice 460/429 fairly cheap.there are plenty of performance parts out there for them also.a big block will make alot of torque at a lower rpm band than a stroker and thats what you feel by the seat of your pants.the small block strokers post about the same #s for hp and tq but they can be $$$ to build.a good 460 built right(nothing expensive)with a little head work and cam will be more power than your tires can handle.also none of the oil cunsumption problems that alot of the strokers are known for.guess you know by now that Im a big block guy :)

thanks Chris, like I said as far as I know it was just a rumor I think one of the guys from the competition said they saw on one of the cars at the London show that it looked like the headers were hitting the footboxes, they may have been a little biased though

Ive also been following Cobrachris' thread as I also have alot to learn about HMS.Ive heard there are some clearance issues with the FEs in the Hurricane with the headers hitting the foot boxes.Just a rumor I heard, can some of you big block guys chime in ?maybe it was an early model and has been corrected as I can see the guys at HMS seem to be improving their car all the time.HMS from what I can tell seem to be commited to building a quality product and I like the looks of everything.Ive checked out several build sites and they look as good as anything Ive seen on the market. You guys should all be proud

Hey Phil,I looked at both yours and Micheals build sites. Both are some sweet looking rides.I want to do everything myself ,motor ,trans, body work and paint :P.Ive worked on alot of classic Mustangs over the years for myself and for customers so not much bothers me about the build other than the money ;)I really look forward to the boby work believe it or not,I like painting.I not a pro by any means but have painted several cars and am pretty good if I do say so myself. You did pick a tough one first time out but it looks great from what I saw from your pics.Look forward to seeing it up close.Ill get back with you when I can free up some time to meet you. Thanks to everyboby    Scott

Phil,  thats just plain mean to tempt a man beyond what he is able to endure :D my wife would probably hate you forever ;).she told me if we can find a way to pay for it she doesnt care, but she wants me to finish the 67 mustang conv. to get it uot of the garage first ::)

Thanks for the replys fellows,I would really be interested in getting a look at your cars and maybe the seat of the pants feel for the cars :) .Ive seen several other models up close(Superformance, whick I wasnt really impressed with, and a FFR)but have never actually taken a ride :'(.Ive been looking at these things and dreaming of owning one for years now and its just beginning to get to the point where I could see the dream realized in the not to distant future.Only problem is Im afraid if I get in one Ill be bitten and wont be able to wait ;D Ill try to get back with you when I can work it out and give you some advance notice so we can schedule it.thanks for the replies Scott

thanks for the info guys,Im still in the shopping stage and just found out about you guys and am very interested in the product.Ive been looking over the home page, theres alot of info but there are still a few things I have questions about so I figured the best way to find out is to ask someone who knows firsthand.Im in southwest Ga. just north of Tallahassee.Looking forward to learning more about the cars and meeting some new friends.I dont forsee any problems with the build part as Im a mechanic by trade and run a family owned garage.I may tend to ask alot of questions so if I ask too much just tell me to shut up  :)                           scott

Hello everyone, Im a newbie here and was hoping to get a look at a Hurricane up close.I live in the south Ga. area and shopping the different kits out there.I didnt really know anything about Hurricanes until yesterday when I read a thread on the ffrcobra forum.there were a few bashers but most were supportive and gave Hurricanes good reviews.I would like to take a look if anyone is close by.
