Time for an update!   Well, since I last posted we took the cobra down to the Texas Cobra Club spring meet in San Marcos with barely 40 miles on the odometer, and ended up adding over 400 miles in three days.  It was an absolute blast, the cobra performed flawlessly.   Saturday morning John Shelton and I tried to beat the rain and make a run to Port Lavaca on the coast and got caught in an absolute monsoon rainstorm, so I even tested out the wipers. Yes they work.   And yes the car was full of water!  But so much fun.   Nothing a bunch of hotel towels couldn't handle.  When I got home we sucked it out at the car wash vacuum.  (now I own a 5 hp 12 gallon wet/dry vac in my garage).

Since this was really the first shakedown, I had a few things to address once we returned home.  First, I hadn't finished all the interior trim and the driver footbox got HOT! due to the 1" gap between the body and footbox edge.  I stuffed a towel in the gap and dealt with it in San Marcos.  Next I developed a  big oil leak around the Canton oil filter remote adapter.  When I got home I replaced the fittings and used teflon tape and that fixed that.    I also have a slight coolant leak around the seam of the FE style expansion tank. I'll have to pull it and get it re-soldered eventually.   Also after I got home I drove it to Grubbs Motorsports in north Dallas for a 4-wheel alignment.  Tracks much better now.

Last week I finished up the interior panels and heat shield in the driver's footbox, and the carpet on the footboxes and floor.  I still have to finish the interior panels around the door sills and in front of the rear tires.

So since then we've driven to The Star in Frisco, TX (Home of the Dallas Cowboys) for a big all-Ford draft day car show, then this past weekend to Legacy Bank of Plano Shelby Car Show hosted by Aaron Shelby (grandson of CS), and then yesterday a 100 mile round trip to a Cruise In show in Corsicana. We've also run all around town for fun to lunch, dinner, etc.    I now have about 950 miles on the clock.

Here are some pictures, and note:  There is NO paint on this car - that is all Hurricane Motorsports black gelcoat!     I have a really cool race decal set I'll add this weekend, will post more pics when its on.

First ever road trip:  to Lockhart, Texas for BBQ at Blacks! (HOT feet!)

Second day:  Hill Country cruising with my Dad!

the wife had a Shutterfly coupon for 40% off and unlimited pages, so we put together a really nice 11x14 book on the highlights of our build process.   It was a fun project, and really pleased with the results.  Will be nice to have at car shows to have a visual answer to the many questions.   its just a shame that HMS will no longer be in Lake City, Iowa, or anywhere for that matter.
