General Questions / Shout out to the Hurricane boys...

I just want to put a thank you out to the Hurricane boys for continuing to stand by their product in providing customer service and continued support as the company goes through this transition time.  Some know, I've been working through some significant issues with my car which the guys at Hurricane continue to assist me with and have worked to resolve in a fair manner. 
My car is currently in for paint and I am looking forward to having it on the road this summer with all the bugs worked out.  I'll update with pictures once I get them from the paint shop.

General Questions / Noisy swedge tubes...(trailing arms)

Has anyone had any issues develop with clunking/creaking in the trailing arm swedge tubes?  I put about 500 miles on my car and developed a clunking/creaking/rattle noise that I isolated to what I thought were rod ends on the passenger side trailing arm.  I ordered new QA1 rod ends, installed them and the problem went away.  About 500 miles later the exact noise started up again.  If I push the car up and down I can hear and feel the nose in the trailing arm on the passenger side of the car.  I called QA1 and sent them a video of the noise and they said; "Hmmm we've never heard that before." and then proceeded to send me all new replacement rod ends as well as several other sets/styles to try (probably worth about $200 total-very good customer service.)  I haven't installed them yet as I am not convinced the rod ends are the problem.  If I have someone push the car up and down and I put my hands on the rod ends I feel nothing but hear the clunk.  If I have someone push the car up and down and I grab the swedge tube (trailing arm) I hear and feel the clunk.  I jacked the car up...put a rubber hammer to the rod ends...no noise.  Put the same advanced diagnostic tool to the swedge tube and it rattles...even with the lock nuts tightened down.  Does anyone have an explanation for this?

General Questions / Fuel odor in trunk

My trunk is entirely sealed from the outside environment. However I have noticed a fuel odor when I open up the trunk. It is most definitely coming from the inlet pipe. I have tried three different set ups to try to seal the vapor off at this area. I am currently using a sealed hose similar to that for marine applications from tanks Inc. along with T-bolt clamps To secure it.  Took it out for a drive tonight and noticed that I still have fuel vapor when I open the trunk. It is not coming from the fuel pump area or the fuel sending unit as I have inspected those.  The smell is strongest at the hose.  I am wondering what you guys are using in this area?  This is my set up:

General Questions / Fuel tank fitting sizes...

I have looked all over and can't seem to locate the fitting sizes for the aluminum fuel tank.  There are two on the front top and one larger one on the front bottom.  Does anyone know off-hand what size fittings go in those holes?

General Questions / EFI Set up

So I am considering replacing my carburetor on my cobra with a Sniper EFI system.
Has anyone installed one of these in the cobra and if so how did you handle an in tank pump?
There is a spot on the tank for a return line but it is not plumbed to the bottom of the tank so there’s a major risk for vapor issues if I just plug into that line and let the return fuel freefall into the tank.
When installing an in tank pump do you just drill another hole in the top of the gas tank and install the fuel pump there? What do you do with the fuel level sending unit?

General Questions / Sealing body gaps along door bottoms and foot box to fender

Hey guys!  I am wondering what kind of products/techniques you used to seal the gaps between the footbox and the body, especially on the drivers side which is about an 1/2-3/4 inch.  Also, what did you use under the doors between the cockpit tub and the body and along the inside of the cockpit tub and door latch area?  My kit did not come with any thing for this area so I am wondering what we are supposed to do to properly seal this area off?

General Questions / Vibration...

Thought I would run this by the brain trust.  I finally got my carb issues worked out so I decided to put a few miles on the Cobra today just to give it a test.  I noticed that at 40 mph I get a high frequency low intensity vibration that seems to be coming from the rear that I can feel in the seats AND the steering wheel.  I didn't push it any harder as I didn't want to risk things getting worse and breaking with no registration on the car it (it is insured).  Anyway, wondering if anyone has any ideas for places to start to work this out. 
The tires have been sitting for 5 years (mostly without the weight of the car on them), the driveshaft was made by Denny's driveshaft, the car HASN'T been aligned. I also hadn't fully tightened the coil spring seats together.

Anyone have some tips for aligning the hood and hood hinges.  I’m trying to get this situated “good enough” for the body shop and holy cow…it’s way off.  Sits high towards the nose and to low on the drivers side.

I am just posting a recommendation to stay away from this company. I ordered some items from them in early December and they have not shipped them.  They also have not returned phone calls or emails.  Additionally, they have not responded to PayPal intervention.

General Questions / Ride height-with live axle

Does anyone have ride height measurements and locations for a Hurricane with a standard live axle?  I’m trying to get heights set so I can order a driveshaft.  Also, thoughts on pinion angle...should it be equal to or 1 degree negative of the trans output angle?  I’m seeing both schools of thought online.

Hey guys,
It seems that Mark and I are having trouble with Photobucket.  I see my entire build thread now lacks any photos at all.  Frustrating.  For those of you who are posting pictures to websites, what photo hosting service are you using and is there a free option?  Photobucket now wants $400 per year to be able to link photos to websites...sheesh.
