Well here are some quick pics of the start of the Ohio Cobra Club Raffle car. This will be a great car and this if for a great cause so be sure to purchase some tickets. I will try to add some pictures as I go along and if anyone has anything they would like pictures of don't hesitate to ask.
Pic #1 Good picture of whats all going on here at Hurricane.
Pic #2 Let the build begin! Just got the frame back from powder coat and wanted to get started on front end assembly yesterday.
Dusty
Dusty, looking good. BTW have you test fit the Trigo's on the 99 car yet? (I know you have sooo.. much time on your hands) :o
Mark
Nice!!!! I like the graphics on the sides of the factory car.
Keep us posted on progress.
Russ
Is that HM2008 on the left in the back?
(sorry for the thread hijack)
Yes Bobby that is your car sitting there all alone waiting for his great new owner to pick him up! I will be posting more pictures today but need to sort through them first.
Dusty
Well things are coming along with the Ohio car pretty well. Here a few pictures of the progress.
1. Front suspention all buttoned up and brake lines run.
2. Fuel sending unit installed and mounting gas tank.
3. Third member installed, housing in place along with rear suspension. Brake lines and fuel lines are run.
Installing master cylinders, finishing up brake lines and Finish up gas tank today. The tires and wheels are mounted and balanced and would be installed today but still waiting on the pins for the adapters.
Any questions or comments???
Hope everyone has a great weekend!
Dusty
Dusty, looking good....keep the progress pics coming. Enjoying the build.
Sam
Looking good Dusty. My trailer is ready and waiting! :D
George
Hi Dusty, looking good. wish mine looked that clean and neat. What are the chosen spring size, rate and part numbers that you use on the rear end these days? Also, what size of QA shocks are you using for this car? Any thing special requested by the club?
Thanks everyone for the encouraging words! Fuzzy, we are just using the standard QA1 adjustable shocks and 400lb springs. No special request other then the deadline :P
George, better keep the trailer unhooked for a bit yet!
Picture 1. Brake lines and floor mounted pedals all done.
Picture 2. All panels hung and fitted.
Picture 3. Body heading to body shop!!!
Dusty
I am always amazed at the quality of the raw molded body.
Who needs paint ;D
Paul
I agree Paul. Now that I'm heavy into the final (I hope ) stages of the of the paint process I wish I had one of the "new" bodies. I'm sure I would be doing a lot less filling and sanding.
Sam
Wow! I agree the new bodies look absolutely great. This is a real plus for the builder, much less body work and better fit.
Good job, Guys
ps. I wish I had new bodies, one for my Cobra and one for me. ;)
Bill
Well been keeping busy so I only have one decent picture to post but wanted everyone to know things are going great! Cockpit tub and trunk tub are done now. Time to do the steering and electrical.
Last I heard the Ohio Cobra Club raffle for this car starts tomorrow so please get with a representitve or go to their website and buy tickets! The website has pictures of what this car will look like finished. All the profits go to a great cause! This is a great group of guys doing what they can on their own to help others. All with one thing in common, COBRAS!
Thank you all for your support
Dusty
I think they all love to eat too....
Looking good Dusty, sure wish I had one of those new bodies, told my wife, maybe I should hurry up and get this one done so I could build her one....been pretty quiet around the house lately
Great day!!! The Ohio car can officially roll on its own four wheels! Just wanted to share that with everyone ;D
Dusty
Dusty, looking good. What size wheels and tires are you running?
Sam
Sam,
The wheels are 15". Tires are M/T ST radials with 245-60 on front and 295-50 on rear. They look great on it and we are all hoping the new owner enjoys them.
Dusty
George and i will, thanks Dusty.... 8) ;D ;) :)
now where did i put those tickets...
Way to go Fuzzy. Dusty, When can I pick it up?
George
Here is a recent picture for you all :)
Is it ok for the guy building this car to also win the car? ;D :o :P
Nice Dusty. We have a meeting on Saturday, I can't wait to show the club all these pictures.
Yes, the builder is eligible to win this car. Everyone over the age of 18 at the time of the drawing and who has a ticket is eligible to win. The girl that does the drawing is a victim of cystic fibrosis and she doesn't know who has tickets in the drum, nor does she care! But we all do have a good time at the show.
George
PS: I agree with Bob's expression!
Well guys I have got some of the wiring done! And one sneek preview of the fresh paint! Good thing everyone on here is getting more of a heads up then on the lagging behind thread on Club Cobra :P
Once again any questions or comments? ;D
Dusty

Once again any questions or comments? ;D
Dusty
Are you following the build manual? Or are you revising it? Will the new edition be ready for print when I pick up HM2008 next week?! :P
I am trying to stay with the manual but also hard to do when revising it and don't have a motor or trans in it! But for the most part it is following the manual you will be getting ;D
Dusty, since I'm getting ready to do the finish paint on my car, I have a question for you now that I've seen the above pic. Obviously the striping has been done without the body on the frame, so how are you sure the hood and trunk stripe will line up with the body stripe? I am thinking I will have to do the hood and trunk stripe to line up with the body stripe after the body is on the car and the hood and trunk assembled on the hinges in their final position.
Regards, Sam
Sam,
I would advise painting the stripes on the car. That body is actually on a frame and those are the hinges for the Ohio car so I know them stripes will line up fine.
Dusty
Dash is pretty well wired up! Last finishing up touches before putting body on :)
Don't put that body on until I can get there Friday and get a peek behind the curtain !!
I heard that it was going to be ready to pick up on Friday LOL
George

Thanks Bob, don't know how that happened, but I think it is fixed now. ???
George
Rusty, looking at the dash, I'm glad to see HM got rid of that fugly GM light switch!
Car is looking good
Hey everyone! Sorry I have been slacking on updates :P Well It is completely wired up, body is here, put some of the lights on the body and hopefully tomorrow I will be mating the body to the go cart! If anyone wants more pictures just ask as I have a couple hundred of the complete build ;D
Been a while since I have posted anything on here :-[ So I thought I would post one picture ;D
Dusty --
I'm impressed, that was an awfully quick build. When did you start, in October?? Looks really good. Nice work. This should get the ticket sales up.
-- Russ
It really going to look nice sitting in George's garage waiting for me to come back every summer.....but you guys should still buy tickets so it doesn't look like i rigged it or anything ::)
ken
Russ and everyone,
I had an idea that Hurricane was going to be building the raffle car but got the go ahead October 2nd! It was helpful knowing ahead so I could get some of the frame precut and I always have some items premade. While I was doing some assembly the body shop was doing bodywork and paint. I would've been done but there has been some minor set backs but I am working on finishing asap. I want this car to be great as it is for a great cause so get out there and buy your tickets!
Fuzzy, I am not sure I want my car sitting in George's garage but you are more then welcome to come to Iowa and ride in it with me ;D
Dusty
Hey Dusty,
My wife told me if I decide to buy even more raffles tickets, maybe I had better think again. Something about just ordering another Hurricane for her so we would now where our baby was each night instead of worrying about the company it was keeping. Ya'll better buy a heap of tickets to better your odds though, 'cause I'm feeling lucky.....
8)
ken
on the side though, even if we don't win here in the "family", we win cause we get another family member and it all goes to a good cause. And Dusty, thank you on behalf of the whole Hurricane family for doing such an amazing job for a car that gets given away.
Fuzzy and Dusty,
Thanks for your comments. We are starting to get some tickets sold. These tickets would make great stocking stuffers for Christmas. All of my family is going to get one.
Tickets can be purchased on line at www.londoncobrashow.com or www.ohiocobraclub.com Thanks for all your support!
Registration for the show is open now. we would like to see everyone there!
On behalf of the Ohio Cobra Club, Thanks for your support and Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!
George
PS: who ever wins the car is welcome to park it in my garage! Dusty, I will take GOOD care of it! ;D ;D
Ken,
I hope you are lucky enough to win it!!! But I will be happy for the winner as I know it is one nice car even if I did build it ;) And thank you, I am doing the best I can and not just for Hurricane but for a great club and organization!
George, If I win it you can park it in your garage till I drive it home ;D And I would even let you be the first to drive it, if you hadn't already :o
All in good fun, hope there are alot of tickets sold, I passed mine to my brother so he can get over selling his Boxster and get in a real car. Hope everyone here gets at least one. I can't drive it anyway with having a manual trans, can't shift anymore with bum knee, hence they always call me shiftless. ;D
Hoping all members have a joyous and merry Christmas and we can all keep the families and friends of places like Sandy Hook in our prayers. Lets hope and pray that 2013 will be a peaceful year for the USA
one advantage to living in Indonesia is we get to celebrate Christmas and New Year's 11-12 hours ahead of you guys. :) but then April 15th comes earlier too.
Have a great Holiday
Ken aka Fuzzy
Well the world hasn't ended here in Iowa ;D So I would like to tell everyone out there to have a safe and Merry Christmas!
Just wanted to post a few pictures of the car today. Waiting on some excutive decisions to be made on the fine details and then Im sure George will be here to pick up "my" car ;D
Go buy your tickets now!!! Won't be long and this will be an up and running very nice gift to the winner!!!!
Dusty
George, maybe I missed it, but what is going to be the engine for this fine car?
Sam
Sam, that will be determined tomorrow! I missed the last board meeting and some things got changed on me. I will be a small block Ford. I thought it would be a 351, but I heard a rumor that it is going to be a 302. We will get that settled tomorrow and I will let you know!
George
George, any update on the engine?
Sam
Sam, it looks like the engine will be a Ford Racing 306.
The plan is to install it the first weekend in Feb. (if is delivered in time) Then once we get the side pipes and headers installed, I will post some new picts.
George
The Ohio raffle car is now in Ohio, I picked it up last Friday. I must say that photos do not do it justice! The car is outstanding! The paint, the fit and finish
is great! It should get it's engine next week. I will post new pictures then. Here are a couple from last week when I picked it up.
Hurricane should be very proud of this car!
George
OK, pictures did not post, I will try to figure this out and try again.
George
George,
If you don't post recent pictures for everyone I am going to ;)
Tomorrow I will post my favorites even if Georege hasn't.
Everyone please remember to buy your tickets as this is for a great cause!!!
Thanks
Dusty
Careful when buying tickets online at the Ohio Cobra Club website. You get a server error after you commit to buy tickets that makes you think the transaction didn't go through. If you send it through again, you just bought more tickets. I found out the hard way. Got multiple receipts via email for tickets. Oh well, its for a good cause. I shouldn't have been so cheap and should have bought more tickets anyway. -- Russ Rittimann
We will see how you feel about that when you have 2 Cobra's in the garage ;D ;D
Mark
I guess that would be a real problem to have 2 Cobras in the garage. I suppose it's a problem I could handle. Although the wife ain't gonna be too happy if her car is put outside, two Cobras or not. ;D
Says it all
(http://www.gatewaycobraclub.com/gallery/data/501/Worthless.gif)
Paul, what would you like pictures of exactly? I just went through all the pictures I have of the build to send with the car, so tell me what you want ;D
Dusty
Dusty
The picture you put up is great. Just giving George a hard time
Paul
I guess I'm computer illiterate! I can't get they to post.
George
We have now got the engine and will start installing it on Wednesday. We will take picts and a video of the first start!

Russ, sorry for the problems, I will pass this on to our web guy and let him know.
But we do appreciate your support!
George
Thanks George. It's certainly for a good cause. Get computer literate so we can see the prime motive power. Paraphrasing what Paul says, without pictures it just hasn't happened.
-- Russ
working on the engine today. you can see pictures on facebook. London cobra Show.
Got to go to work now, pictures later tonight.
George
(maybe I can get Paul to tutor me on computers)
George, try this:
- Open up new post by clicking "Reply"
- Type whatever verbiage you want into the white box area. Just like a normal post
- Click on "Attachments and other options" located just below the box you type in
- Click on box that says "Choose File" That will open a browser window that you can navigate to the folder on your computer that you have the pictures in.
- click on the picture file you want to upload and its file name will be in the Attach: box
- if you want to upload more, add them by clicking on "(more attachments)" You can have a total of four per post.
- when you have the names showing in the boxes, click on "Post" in the lower right corner. NOTE: Don't click preview. If you do, it won't show the pictures and it has been known to keep files from uploading.
One area of caution. If your files are real big, they may not upload. You are limited to about a 1Meg picture file and many cameras now take pictures that are 5-12megs. If you need to resize them, do a Google search for picture resizer. It is free and will install on your computer. Or email them to yourself and they will generally get downsized.
Hope that helps. I want to see the pictures! ;D

Thanks Paul, I will try it again.

How about an interior picture 8)
When I go in my own garage and see a bare black frame, bare gelcoat body up in the air, boxes and boxes of parts -- these pictures give me hope... still have to pinch myself sometimes to realize "its really happening!"
Bob, you have to get busy to make the Texas show in April!
Don't feel bad though, we have all been where you are now. Remember, one bolt at a time! :D

George, I will definitely be in San Marcos come April. Already registered. I'll just be wearing the hurricane hat and t-shirt, not driving this year...
Bob
Update on the Ohio Raffle car:
The engine is installed (kinda) we are still waiting on the front drive and water pump, and the transmission.
The engine is a ford racing 306 rated at 345 hp. The transmission is a T5z.
George
George,
Congrats, looks like you got the picture uploading dragon tamed
8)
Yeh, I think so. now I don't have any excuses, huh?
George
Finished pictures of the OCC/CFF London Cobra show raffle car! C'mon guys time to buy tickets. Dusty has done an excellent job building this car. Special thanks to all of the folks at Hurricane-Motorsports!
George
Couple more pics

What's with the reservoir mounting location(s)?
Or is it just a temporary thing?

Paul
Yes, I was wondering the same thing ...
The reservoir mount is only temporary. We just had the car at an 10 day show in Cleveland and everyone loved the car! Hurricane did an outstanding job on the car! Usually I hear people say that they wanted a different color. Not once this year. Color was "dead on".
Many thanks to Hurricane.
The color in the pictures looks a little different, I think because of the lighting in the building.
Engine is a Ford racing 306. 340 hp and 350 torque. transmission is a T5z also from Ford Racing.
George
one more picture. Sorry about the glare.
Are you bringing the car to the Texas Cobra Meet next month ? - www.texascobrameet.com -
Bob, I really want to. We are having a board meeting tonight and that will be on the agenda. It will be a 2 day trip for us each way, but I would still like to do it.
George
George
How well did your first outing do? Any comparison in ticket sales between this one and last years car?
Nice looking presentation
Paul
Paul, The car is really liked by everyone. The pictures just do not do it justice. My first outing showed ticket sales up by about 50%. I am really trying to get approval from the board to take the car to the Texas meeting in San Marcos. I have met some resistance, but they are starting to weaken. I shall prevail! We will have the clutch working by then and I will be able to drive it in and out of the trailer. We are looking to have a better year than last.
George
It's official, the Ohio Cobra Club is going to Texas and we will be taking the raffle car! Looking forward to a great time there.
George
New video for the Ohio Cobra Club and the London Cobra Show, enjoy.

George,,,, Kudos to you and all of the OCC folks. That was a great promo video! Well done folks! Makes me sorry that I have missed the last few years.
Still doesn't mean that Bill Dyer can come to Texas though ;)
Jay
Jay, I promise that I will not bring Bill Dyer with me!
George
To date, my favorite picture of the raffle car. Get out there and buy more tickets!!!
I know that everyone is thinking that a better picture would be in their own garage!
Someone will get this car for only $20.00!
George
