Title: Changes to how HMS operates?
Post by: Category 5 on August 12, 2008, 04:04:28 PM
Hola everyone,

I was just wondering if anyone new of any changes that hurricane would be making to the way they operate.  Such  as, different kit options or payment options.  I know this is a great kit for an unreal price, but 16k is still quite a bit of money for some to hand over all at once.  Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Hmmm  different purchase options?  Now that would get me moving quicker.  I would still be 2 years away from start, but I would likely be interested in or at least review options like in house financing (Full or partial), purchasing the kit in stages (depending on how the stages are put together and what options are included),

Joe,

You read my mind exactly....not to bring up another company on this forum...but HMS's new local competition has a stage build program, and if Hurricane emplemented something similar, that would a great thing to push me over the edge as to which kit to buy.

Cat 5 are you local to DFW as well?  Just curious.  I was thinking of their local competition when I posted that.  If you haven't spoken directly with Chris yet, I highly recommend it.  He has taken the time to talk to me and seems like he will work with you how you need.  He does seem to be dedicated to customer service and to making sure that everyone knows it.

I know at this point I am looking forward to an Open House celebration.  Being only about 30-45 min away from the shop I plan on attending whatever functions they have there. I was settled on the Hurricane kit previously (Even with LS being local) after looking at another members car.  I fit very well in the seat (car was prior to the mod to move seat back).  I also wanted the original 90" wheelbase so when I thought that Hurricane would no longer be an option, I started to think that I would just save my money longer and get a SPF.  I am not a fan of the FFR body.  Just a personal preference and nothing more.  Chris has convinced me that Hurricane will take care of me the way I expect to be taken care of, so I am now back on the Hurricane band wagon so to speak.

Who else is local to DFW and/or will be at the open house... when is the open house?

Sorry to momentarily hijack the thread.

When I'm in TX, I live 4 hours away near Houston.

When I'm in KS, it's too far to drive unless I'm making the trek home--I tend to spend a month in KS, a month in TX, a month in KS......

I'd be up for it if I were in TX, that's for sure!

Joe,

Right now I'm stationed at Fort Sill.  But would make the 3hr drive to go to an open house.  I'm in a similar situation as you....if I had to buy the kit the way it stands now, it would be a few years off, but if they did decide to do a stage build option, I could push that up considerably.  Is Chris's number the one on the contact page?  Last time I called it I got Mr. Nordstrom's voicemail.

If anyone learns of an open house please pass the word.  I'll be in Dallas in mid September and would like to stop by the shop.

I'm in a North Dallas suburb (McKinney) and I'm looking forward to meeting others who have built the kit. I am especially interested in those who take their cars to "member days" at the area high speed country clubs (i.e., Eagle's Cnyon, Motorsport Ranch).
Regards,
Paul

Update on Hurricanes main website also pic of new warehouse:

Update on Move to Texas

Hurricane Motorsports has completed the move to Texas. We are now in the process of setting up the new shop cleaning, testing and installing all equipment and tooling in preparation of the test unit being completed. Our target for Chassis completion is Mid-September. We also plan to have the first body pulled from the mold and ready to set on the chassis by the end of September.

Watch the web site for official date that orders will be taken on the first production units. We would like to tell all the current owners to look forward to a package in the mail with special offers and information. Just to let one of the specials out, we will be sending anyone that owns a Hurricane Cobra a gift if your car is published in a magazine or newspaper.

In the next few days we will be updating and adding to the web site. Please check back as we move forward in our progress

Feel free to call or email with any questions or information needs you might have.

I haven't been over there in a while and just noticesd it.
