My name is Eddie and i'm looking at buying a Hurricane kit but I want to get into it as inexpensive as possible. This will be a long term project so a complete kit is not necessary. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the forum, Eddie.

As for your comment that a complete kit is not necessary, I'm not sure I've ever heard of anyone ordering less than a complete kit, so that may not be a purchase option from Hurricane.

IMHO, long term is a good thing.  I've heard others comment on the speed with which this kit can be assembled, so it's not necessary to take a long time to do one, but I think the experience will be one to be savored and therefore I plan on not rushing things, myself.

Good to see you here, hope you'll stick around.  Read a bit in the various threads, check out the build threads, and I think you'll realize what an incredible value the Hurricane product is.

Good luck in making your decision:

For as much as I've read about all the kits, the Hurricane is probably the most complete for the price.
I just need not spend 16k on a kit just now. But a lesser amount and a less complete kit (Hurricane)
would be just right. There is a guy in the neighborhood with a Shelby kit. he has nearly 80k in it and has to have it worked on every time he goes for a ride. That is not for me.

thanks for the answer, Eddie

If you are only interested in an incomplete kit, Eddie, the only suggestion I might have would be for you to go to Hurricane's homepage and contact them through the "contact us" link.  That will put you through to someone who might be able to accommodate you, but if it were me I wouldn't count on it too much.  I think Hurricane is very busy building and selling complete kits.

There are other companies that might offer "staged" kits.  To recommend those companies on Hurricane's forum would be in rather bad taste, IMHO.

If you are unsuccessful with some personal contact with Hurricane, PM me a phone number so we can talk.

Oh, yeah--if your friend's Shelby needs work after each drive, I'd be suspect about the quality of the build.  Just my $.02.

Eddy, Welcome to the Hurriane forum.   :D

I think your on the right track, picking Hurricane as the best complete kit out there and especially for the price and quality.  I would suggest that you wait until you can afford the entire kit..it will give you plenty of stuff to work on for a good while.  If you choose the engine and trans. properly you can find a motor set up that will further help reduce your overall costs.  In addition, doing your own bodywork will also save..but thats down the line.

As mention before, you might get lucky and find a partially completed kit on line and get in that way, but it may not be the car you really want or the cost will be excessive.  Whatever you do you will end up spending $30'000. plus dollars on a good car.

Anyway, keep looking and planning...I'm sure you will find a way to get what you want.
Best Regards,  Bill     ;)

Don't quote me but I believe on club cobra I may have seen a post from Rich or Mike that they WOULD do a partial kit.  Like I said, don't quote me on that, your best option is to ask one of them via email.

Your friends Shelby is nice I'm sure but it really was never a kit.  He paid so much for it because it came assembled and it DOES bear the authenticity of being a Shelby.

I wanted my replica to drive.  Why pay 80k when I could have the same thing.. or close to it for less than 1/2 that?  I don't plan on really showing my car and I don't need the ego boost by telling everyone I own a shelby.  IMHO, I'd buy a kirkham before a Shelby! haha  Unless of course it was a CSX 2000 or 3000 which it would NEVER be driven in that case.  Where's the fun in that?

Give Hurricane a call or email them they'll be happy to help you out.  Either in a partial kit or maybe some direction about where you could get one.
