Title: Hello and some questions on footboxes
Post by: Tallguy on September 30, 2007, 12:18:53 PM
Hi all,

I did not have Hurricane my short list, but came across this site and the Hurricane website, and I am impressed so far.

I am 6'6" tall, so fit is a big concern.  I have seen mods to the footbox + Kirkey seat used in a FFR and know that I will fit.  I also visited ERA 2 weeks ago, and sat in a car set up for a guy 6'5, and surprisingly I fit pretty well (with regular seats).

I will be running a 428FE, and I understand that the footbox is smaller for the big block versus the small block in the Hurricane.  Does any one have dimensions of the different foot boxes?  Or any taller drivers with input?

Thanks,
Mark

Mark, I have  Hurricane with a 428FE and there seems to be plenty of room in the driverside footbox, of course I'm not as tall as you.

Here's a few things to consider regarding the Hurricane that might help you with your search.
1.  They have modified the cockpit tub so the seats will move back a few more inches.  2. They are modifing the left front outside frame rail (on the inside) in the footbox to allow more clutch foot space.  3. The pedal assembly is positioned forward enough to  allow you to easily move your feet past the hanging pedals,  so you can stretch out your legs while cruising. there is also plenty of knee room in the cockpit.

If you get a chance fine sombody in your area and take a good look at the car, I think you'll be happily surprised.

Best Regards, Bill   ;)

Thanks for the info Bill.  Sounds encouraging.

I am scheduled to tour the Hurricane factory next Wednesday, so I should get all the first hand answers.   Then I am off to Run and Gun for a day.

I can't wait!
