I've also heard about a group of 3 in Houston who are all planning builds.

Sounds like we'd better batten down the hatches here in the Lone Star State!

All,

So I discovered the guest book link to be not functioning properly on the my site, I am sad.

Anyone having any problems downloading or viewing quick time ? Check that your quick time plug-in is updated.

The files are pretty big, so be patient... 30 seconds to 2 minutes depending on T1, DSL or FIOS.

Still working on the guestbook problem.

More important is the movie availability, so that you all can view as many cobra videos as possible to keep up your spirits and motivate your build projects.

SOLUTION:

Do this upgrade/download... I think you may never run into another movie file that your computer can't parse.

navigate to Apple supported QuickTime 7.2 for Windows (freeware) at
http://cws.internet.com/file/11743.htm

It should also alleviate the - waiting for the file to download completely before playing - problem.

Guestbook now fixed also.

Be aware that Apple Quicktime has a bad reputation on Windows-based computers.  It steals file associations, autoloads unnecessary background processes that slow your computer, and in some installations it refuses to unload when you close it.  Also, past versions have created security holes in Explorer.  For these reasons I won't have it on my computer.

There's an alternative:  http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

The VideoLAN VLC Media Player is a free open-source program that will play nearly any media file you'll ever come across.  Works great; no Quicktime headaches.

Good videos, John.  Thanks for posting.

Eric,

Thanks for the steer.

My IT guys at the office are still supporting Quicktime for Windows; I will raise the points you made.

Sitting down now to add the link to VLC on my JSHEL1 site.

JShell, I am not far from you, I live in Lavon, but I was wondering if you would be willing to show me your kit?  I have been referred to the Hurricane kit by someone who has put a deposit down after all the research, and by someone with a Lonestar.  The latter was not anything against lonestar, but recommended Hurricane due to my desires/needs.  I am still a couple of years at least away from having the funds together, so I am trying to research as my time permits.

I am like Joe in the research stage and I have sent for information on a Hurrican Cobra but was wondering if there was any hurricanes closer to Tyler Texas (2 hours east of than Dallas).

Sounds Good Guys...

After you see the lines, paint, chassis, and firewall on 1038, it won't be long before we see you on the dark side.

See you at Firewheel on Sunday (Joe) and I will call your cell (Rad).

Glad you could make it out to visit Joe. The bang for the buck is a real deal. Happy also that you could see the build manual in person; as you said it is really detailed.

Thanks John, I really appreciate it.  Now it is a matter of me saving the money for the kit, plus the other stuff.  After yesterday, I think I am pretty much sold on the Hurricane kit.
