Title: IRS gear ratio
Post by: Fred_green on March 23, 2007, 09:13:35 PM
Hello, Cobra fans, Im trying to carefully plan a roadster purchase and was wondering what axl gear ratio is good for use with the tko 600 with the .82 OD. Planning on a stroked 351w 15in wheels. Is it true that carefull selection will allow a usable 1st. and wont bog the motor in 5th at freeway speeds?? Thank in advance. fred_green

Fred

After ALOT of research, talking to other owners AND ACTUALLY DRIVING several cars with different combinations, I went with the TKO600 with the .82 fifth gear and 3:20 rear gears. I think this is a perfect combination allowing usable 1st & 5th gears. Several people with different combo's state they wish they had gone with this set-up.

I concur with Jim. With the setup you're talking about, 3.20 would be the way to go in my opinion. Unfortunately, I reached this conclusion too late for me . . after I ordered and received mine with a 3.50. :(
