Does the Free Stage I Assembly take away from the build exeperience?
I know its free, and it will save some time on the build, and its easier for you to pick-up the car from Hurricane and unload it when u get it home provided you supply the rims and tires.
I really want to do it all and that part of the build looks like fun, not a lot of time to do it, but big results when done?
I'm undecided at this time.
I believe the stage 1 assembly "special" is done. Not sure if it is free anymore or not. Mike or Rich would have to answer that question.
It's not on the website anymore as being free. $1,200.00 is still a reasonable price for it though.
Its listed as free, Main page, click on the price $15,990.00, then it shows up.
Mike at Hurricane said it was still going 2 days ago, he likes it because they don't have a fork lift or any other device to lift the kits on to a trailer. They have to hand pick them up to load, where as if the it the suspension is on, you can put tires on it to roll it up and away.

Yet another reason to give serious consideration to the Hurricane!! The factory support appears to be quite generous. :)
Just curious--does the stage 1 assembly include the IRS if that option is chosen? It would be my choice, that's for sure!

Not sure if the Stage 1 includes the rear suspension on IRS or whether ordering the IRS automatically includes assembly and install. But I got the free Stage 1 and IRS and the entire rear end was done including brake lines. BTW, the IRS is a very nice setup and far superior, in my mind, than the FFR version. On the FFR version, the upper "A" arm is really an "I" arm and there have been posts on the FFR forum about wheel hop suspected to result from lateral movement of the upper "I" arm. Haven't heard of any wheel hop issues with the Hurricane IRS, possibly because it is an actual "A" arm.

I really like the way Hurricane is using the Ford 8.8 center section. As far as I'm concerned Hurricane has only competitor for my $$ and they use the Jaguar IRS. I bleed Ford Blue, so any time I have a chance to use Ford parts I'm all over it!!
Here's hoping Hurricane still offers the free Stage I assembly when I order mine--I'll spec the IRS for sure!

There is a guy who posted over on Club cobra who builds a IRS based on the 9" Ford rear. Complete they sell for $3000 and supposedly bolt in for a Kirkham or CSX. Kinda neat. I think the E-M kits used them at one time as an option.
