I spoke to Mike today about port matching the exhaust headers to the Edelbrock FE head. He told me he hadn't heard of any complaints or problems with them.
To those guys who have built Hurricanes's with FE's & Edelbrock heads, did you find much difference in the ports of the head to the header? Is it something to be concerned about?
I am currently building my motor and am at the point of port matching my intake to the heads. If necessary, would like to do the exhaust at the same time.
???
Thanks for any help

Paul,
On my build, Keith Craft used an Edelbrock intake RPM out of the box, and the Hurricane headers matched the FE gasket, as did the KC Edelbrock heads, so no matching was necessary. That being said, he used his stage 2 Edelbrock heads, and I'm not sure how they are done in regards to the in/ex ports. He does magic with his heads and cam combinations. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

IMO-
Maybe not worth it, unless building a high end motor. Anything over 450-500 horsepower is going to be overkill. If you have extra money to spend, spend it on porting the heads. And if you have a big cam and if it is going to be all top end.
Hello, new here. Great site.
Anyway, I'll give my penny's worth. If your not concerned about getting every hp gain, it's not worth the labor. But, if your ports & gaskets are not lined up, you'll get scavenging and can loose good flow. I agree, put the time & money in the head work. Get someone that is good at porting (if you can't do it yourself) and on the flow bench, the numbers will surprise you. Most hp gains are with the heads. MAKE SURE......to spend the money for FE rocker shaft, end stands !
Wish I did the first time. >:(
Thanks,
Kevin
