Title: Cobra Build Questions...
Post by: 301Customs on October 20, 2006, 02:55:49 PM
I am starting an AC Cobra (Hurricane of course, to be ordered) and I am sticking a 351W motor in it with a Tremec TKO-500 tranny.

Dave,
The position on the trans that you need to use is the one that comes in it, I prefer to put a front sump oil pan because I make a hole to screw the oil temp sender.
That color will be great, I am planing to paint another the same but with the flat black stripes.

Hey Dave
Like Alfredo said, use the one that the trans comes with which will be the rear most position on a TKO. The center tunnel will be set up for that position unless you specify a change in the order.
I also like front sump pans but I think either could be used. Front sump just looks "right" IMO.
Good color choice. Should look really good.

Thanks for the info.

I will leave the tranny alone and let the shifter sit where it does.

As for the oil pan, my reason for asking was clearance when engine and tranny are dropped in the car.

As it does not seem to matter I will see some pics and choose what loks best.

Thanks for all the help.

Dave

If one uses the most rearward shifter position, does that require that the shifter be one of those bent-forward types?

Thanks in advance to anyone who has used a TKO 500--I'm thinking about using that transmission, with the tall overdrive gear, for my roadster.

Doug

Yes, and that's the shift lever

I don't see any reason why you couldn't use one of the other positions. Just tell Mike when you order not to cut the hole in the tunnel.
