how have you guys done this,do u pay the tax on the kit when u order or later at the dmv. iam in calif.I have a 68 289 any suggestions on what to do ,I would like to run weber carbs ..

I live in NC and didn't pay any tax on the kit when I bought it. I'm sure when I go to register it the DMV will hit me up for it though
My brother just went through this with his FFR. Like me, he didn't pay any taxes when he bought the kit but DMV hit him with it when it was registered.
Check with some of the local guys in your area. They can tell you how it works in your state.

Also, on the 289 and Webers, it should work out. There are a number of small block Hurricanes being built, mine included (351w). Probably there is enough hood clearence but you may want to talk to Mike about it and get his thoughts. I don't see any problems though.

I have another brand with a '66 289 in it. (Currently for sale) I have a 428 that I'm putting in my Hurricane. The 289 car laid down a 10.93 @ 127 MPH on its one and only dargstrip pass. Don't be afraid to use a smallblock. Most of the really fast cars have smallblocks. I'm only using an FE in this build because I want it to look "right" under the hood.
And as far as I know, every state will expect you to pay sales tax when you register for the first time. None of the manufacturers collect sales tax.
