Each time I see a photo of the new rollbar brace position, the more I like it. I'm switching mine for sure!
Larry
Craig,
Your car looks great! It will be interesting to see how your build goes with the painting done before the mechanicals. I'mm sure you get a boost just looking at it.
Regards,
Chris
Looking good Craig. Now for the fun part, getting it together. ;D ;D ;D
What's that, is that a knobby tire I see on the wall? Not another MX'er joining the Hurricane ranks is it?
I see you have the engine ready to go too. You'll be on the road before you know it. Good luck.
Mike
Craig,
Congrats on the the new addition to the family. Hope your build goes smooth. Hopefully you will be on the road come warm weather.
Best Regards,
Congrats on getting the car. Looks great. You can now skip the forum on bodywork, you lucky dog..... :P
very nice paint job.

QuoteLooking good Craig. Now for the fun part, getting it together.
QuoteNo not much of a mx guy do mostly off road racing ,got the car cause I thought it would a little e-zer on the body lol.....
LOL- yep, me too, I raced for quite a few years. I started to find it hard to keep up with the younger guys, so I got back into cars. I still miss it though. ;D ;D ;D I still think about getting another bike just to do a little play riding.
Mike
Craig, Your car looks really great..I'm thinkin maybe I should have had them paint mine too...O'well too late now.
I got mine down to the frame and have installed the brakes (repacted the wheel bearings), installed the pin drive adapters, ran the fuel line and installed the parking brake. I'll finish up the brake lines and then start on the fuel tank. Make sure you fill the rearend with oil, they come bone dry.
Still waiting for my motor from Southern Automotive, I guess those guys down south in Georga work as slow as they talk, anyway it should be here soon.
Good luck with your build, Bill ;D
I veiwed your car at Hurricane - the paint color and quality is awsume!!!!!! Good luck with your build!
I got the frame all apart and started to clean up the weld splatter there was some rough areas ,got it back form powder coat and got some work done on it this weekend
looks better now :)
Looks good. I'm still really jealous of you having the bodywork and paint done for you by the boys at Hurricane. I decided to do 90% of the bodywork before taking the body off for the first time. :'(
Nice job!!! Your chassis looks really good. ;D ;D ;D
Mike
Craig, looks good.
Is that an IRS I see in your photo?
yes it is the IRS,I just took the lower arms off to pwoder coat . the cage I left and just cleaned up and rattle can them rusto satan black ,the uppers were done last week I have a guy that does our powder coat for our shop so it is pretty cheap for me .
the start of the firewall.
another shot wd-40 and some shotchbrite nothing fancy
I had to make some new tank staps ,got a little happy with the cut off lol,any way there sainless steal 304 no# 4 finish and a little rubber pad.....
fitting the panels
the hoop is in
Super nice looking. I like the safety loop too.
Larry
Very Nice!!!! Everything really looks good. I like the valve covers your using. They look great.
Mike
It does look good. Nice job. Just a suggestion, you could probably close up the oval on the safety hoop seeing that you have an IRS and the pumpkin doesn't move. It would make it safer by containing the driveshaft better.
Just when I thought hoop was done ,can never error on the side of safty I will close up the hoop....
some pic ,I had to redo the pass side header so it will line up in the center of the cut out ,i can't open up the cut out the body is painted.
more
I made this might have it anodize black or clear
redid this and you can see the header i fixed
I was going with the cans ,but went stock just moved them to the fire wall .The breaks are blead and boy did they bleed got it stopped and the clutch works and release's radiator is in ......
Nice work! I like the fabbed valve covers too.
Larry
Your making great progress.
I was thinking that if I should have to pull the header after iam done, it would be alot of work soIam make this removeable so all I have to do is un bolt and drop out the bottem.
cut
alot of room
ready to bolt back I will drill and tap 10-32 cap screw along the 1x1.
Looking great I see you have the inner fender liners in did you have to flatten the 90 bend that goes torward the outside of the car?
did you need to trim around the shocktowers
In my application (very wide motor) I needed to flatten them I like the idea of cutting it in half if I need to access the pipes
I didn't flattin the 90 , I cut around the tower because they rubbed, the pass. side the pipes will come out with no mods.
Okay. School me. Is that NOT a GM HEI cap on the front of your engine?
You can"t work on the car and man the grill, ran out of gas and pulled the backup out,the wife put the dogs on and went off doing what they do in the house...
I realy don't know the size of a harrison tank so I made this today 6" round and 7.5" long still need to get the fiiler cap and vent ,is it to big should i go 5"round.
need to make the mounts too.
Nice work. The welds are beautiful!
Larry

Craig,
Your car is really looking good, you've done a lot of inovative things that add to the quality of your build. I especially like the engine compartment work, everything fits good with "that big fat motor" fillin up the space.
I'm just waiting for my body to get done so it can be reinstalled on the car. Then its put the remaining stuff ....front end cooler, interior and accessories together and it will be pretty done.
I still plan on giving you a call when I come to LA (Torrance) somtime this winter and taking a look at your car.
Best of Luck and continued success, Bill ;D
Eric ,it's a flame (out) bottle ,and a kill swith ,I plan on useing the nutrual safty as intended.
I mounted the windsheld and marked where I'll drill the body about 1 in. from rubber seal .Idid this so the pass side wheelbox wont hit my heater box
one more shot
trunk is bolted down I put a little rubber down between the tub and frame where it hits
My heat sheld ,made by airpline Cy he hand hammers metal he is 88yr's young .
today I got the body on Paul and wendell came over to help.
My dad is on the back ,me on the side it went up ez.
on it's way down.
slideing the back down ,wife had to jump in and give dad a hand ,she had to put the camara down.
got it on and now removing brace ,wendell is lineing up the holes.
motor shot ,thats a 68 289 sounds really good without the side pipes just had to fire it up .
put the windsheld on and called it a day ,took the boys out for some food and beers.
Congratulations Craig, your car looks great! Nice job1

One comment you'll be getting from folks is "man this looks so much like an original I can't believe its a replica". In addition, you'll get the comments from some old guys that say, "This is just like my Shelby I had back in 1965, what a blast! " ;D
I'll be coming to LA over Thankisgiving week from Havasu City with my Hurricane, perhaps we can get together?
Bill
