Time to share what I have.
I've built a separate site to document my build. Hopefully it will be as useful as the one Ryan Cassidy maintains. I'll post updates here occasionally.
Most recent add is the info on emergency brake hookup on IRS
//www.3x2csx.com Link to the brake info is under drivetrain menu item

Paul,
I have been visiting your site a couple times a week. I really like what you have put together. Keep up the good work and keep us updated on your build.
Nathan
Very clean Paul! Looks good.
Larry
Paul, I'm a little concerned about your drive shaft . . but it could just be me ;)
BTW, I'm running the same saftey strap and I shortened and redrilled the bottom "U" piece to reduce the gap below the driveshaft.
Great build site . . .thanks
Matt
Matt,
Didn't mean to put my "special patented driveshaft" info out for all to see. Now all my secrets are out. I was going for light weight and fuel economy.
The PVC pipe did help me line up where to mount my loop since I hadn't purchased a driveshaft yet.
Paul
I felt the fewer holes in the tank, the better. Used some 3/8" alum. tube to run from existing fuel tank vent location to vent located at top cowl bar.
More info on tank install at my website, //www.3x2csx.com

I have measured and plotted the Hurricane body section and put that into a drawing to build a body buck that conforms to the cars cross-section. The one for the Factory Five worked OK but I wanted one that fit the Hurricane. And it is different.
The drawings are shown and can be downloaded at my website: http://www.proefrock.net/3x2CSX/Build/Body_Buck.htm.
Details on building and a material list are also available there

If you want to post a copy of the PDF somewhere on the Hurricane server, please feel free to do so.
Paul
I've been checking out your build thread and site on a regular basis, too, Paul.
I notice you like the 3X2 setup, too.
I had a 312 Y-Block with a 3X2 setup in an old dune buggy--outran 'Vettes with it easily!
Love 'em!!
Paul,
Just wanted to thank-you in advance for updating the body buck diagram to fit a Hurricane and placing it on your web site. I was hoping that someone would be able to do that. Your drawings look good; I
I incorporated Jim's footbox modification which cuts the upper edge off the foot drop box on the drivers side. I also took out the notch box at the top forward edge of the footbox, providing as much room as possible.
I had to put the body on temporarily to check some clearances and I was pleasantly surprised how much it increases the foot / operating room in the drivers side box.
If you are into modifying your car, I highly recommend this. More details are on my website, link is http://www.proefrock.net/3x2CSX/Build/Mods.htm
Paul
I added a bracket at the rear of the frame to incorporate a U-bolt for the latch instead of the angle iron/bolt/nut arrangement. Much cleaner looking. One of the concerns was how long to make the bracket.
I had to put the body on to check some clearance so I was able to confirm a 2 1/2" long bracket will give you about 1/8" clearance. Just right.
Paul
Paul,
Great build site.
1038 came as a roller to me, so I will be paying closer attention to your finisheing touches pages, such as interior. I will check back soon.
My garage is not air-conditioned, so work on the car has been somewhat hindered by the Dallas summer heat.
Paul, I used you Body Buck plans.
It fits perfect.
First time my son and I put the body on the buck we put it on backwards, took a few minutes of moving it back and forth to say somethings not right here.
We spun it around and it fits like a glove.
Thanks Randy
Randy,
I won't ask the names I was being called when you put it on the first time and nothing fit right. >:( ::)
Glad it worked for you
Paul
Most know I am on a period correct kick. I have finished installation of my pedals. These include the AC style pedals, mounted to the Wilwood pedal arms and my fabricated throttle pedal/footbox bracket.
The new mechanical linkage throttle pedal includes period correct linkage in the engine compartment, mounted to the footbox and engine.
More details and a drawings if someone wants to do theirs are on my website.
For those who want to bolt their AC pedals to the Wilwood arms, I just posted details on how I did it on my site.

Paul
My build continues on, albiet slowly. My quest for period correct really adds extra work. I think I mounted the brake reservoirs three times, before I was happy with the layout and engine clearances. Man, it's tight in there.
Also finalized the cooling system, complete with reservoir and upper coolant tube.
More details on my site
Paul
We're almost ready to make noise
Paul
Lookin' good Paul. Take a video when you start her up for the first time.
Great meeting you guys in London.
Dan
Spent some time updating my site and mod information:
1) eBrake: needed a mod on a mod. Modified the lever to fit the boot properly. eBrake now appears as original cars
2) Speedo Cable: Shortening details
3) Dash - Still on my originality kick, I've started detailing the switch and dash changes I've made to be more period correct. Including Lucas light switch and dimmer switch
4) Yea, that is a glovebox that is functional WITH a heater behind it. Tight but it works
Hope this helps someone else, I am having a ball with this: www.65shlb.com (http://www.65shlb.com)
Paul
Sweet Paul,
I to have a heater and wipers, I like the glove box, do you have some more pics?
I went to your site and its not there.
Thanks Randy
Paul, your build is "totally bitchin" as they used to say back in the sixties. ;)
I attempted to build my car so things looked authentic, but your effort, workmenship and attention to detail is by far the best Hurricane build so far. I love the vents, dash board and original throttle linkage....very nice.
Can't wait to see the final product, Best Regards, Bill :)
Found the pictures Paul.
Its under Build Journal, I was looking under MOD's
Randy
Randy,
Keep an eye on the site - I have been trying to get caught up on my posting and have a bunch more pictures of the glovebox and dash details that will be posted in the next couple days.
Paul
Paul, I guess you did not go with the defroster vents, thats the only way I will have room to fit in a glove box.
Let me know what you are thinking
Randy
Randy,
I do have the defroster vents, just didn't have the hoses or fittings in the picture.
I made a fitting from plastic pipe that fits the heater on each side rather than use a "Y". If you have a Hurricane or Maradyne heater, you'll see a couple CapPlugs on the bottom rear of each side. I connected my hoses there. I have the under-cowl fittings from Vintage air that bolt to the underside of the body, with defroster vents on the upper (outer) side. The heater has three doors on it to control the air outlet. The defroster vents will be on or open all the time. The heat vents can be closed if desired.
I had to carve up my glovebox mold to clear the hose on the passenger side. I'll take a picture and post it along with the others I'm working on. It's tight but it fits and you only lose a small corner inside the glove box. My box is essentially the same size as the door to it and about 12" deep, almost all the way to the firewall. I left a couple inches clearance since I have a number of wiring items just behind the glovebox.

Hi Paul, I have been enjoying your build also, getting a lot of good ideas to "borrow". I was wondering if you were considering putting some reflective covering around your orange air vent tubing where it crosses over the headers/collector area? Might heat up the air in the car a bit. Did you decide to use natural airconditioning instead of adding a unit somewhere on the car? Ken
Ken,
Haven't thought the heat transfer thru just yet. The hose (Jegs #555-63100) is silicon fiberglass, good for 550 degrees. I'll probably wait till I see if it becomes an issue or not.
Paul
Paul, I am so impressed! Being an originality person myself, I can sure appreciate all the work and engineering that has gone into your build.
Have you worked out the gas pedal/linkage to a final design? I'm going to copying it soon (except mine has dual quads).
Larry
Larry,
I think I got all the bugs out. Clearance between the FE and the Hurricane footbox which is higher than original cars created a few problems. I'll post close up photos on my website. I'll include the pattern for the footbox pedal bracket.
It looks soooo much better than the Lokar cable and pedal.
Paul
Mechanical linkage is high on my list of post-completion projects! With that in mind, I purposely installed my cable so that other than the hole the cable exits thru the front of the footbox, there are no other holes or mounting holes for it.
Matt
Today was/is a huge milestone. Hit the ignition switch for the first time and she sprang to life.
I built the motor from the ground up so the sphincter muscle was puckered pretty tight. Big Block FE - 431" - TriPower - Hydraulic Roller Cam/Roller Rockers - all the goodies.
I can't wait to get the spinners tight and take it out go-karting. Some little minor annoyances (cheap chinese import ignition switch failed, minor coolant leak) hopefully I won't find any major annoyances. Was really worried about 45 year old carburetors working but they did what they are supposed to.
Congrats . . that is a huge and memorable milestone. Now the fun stuff . . go-karting! ;D
Matt,
May I borrow your "hall pass" to take my car out? The police leaving city hall go right past my house. I'm gonna need a "get out of jail Free card"
Paul
Paul, congrats, now you need to borrow a flatbed farm truck and find some "B" roads.
Don't need no stinkin' Hall Pass!! I think I'm gonna have to change my oil and replace rear tires before I go to paint! ;D Which, by the way, my car is scheduled to be admitted into the Batcave (Jeff Miller's) next week!!
Matt
She's been to the Go-Kart stage for a few weeks now, I just had to take her out for a short ride.
Looks great Paul! Can't wait for mine to get that far. unfortunately I ran into an issue with the rear end. Now i have to fix that before moving on and it will take a bit. But, hey this is part of the build process I guess.
Nice job!
