Finished Kit Pictures / HM-2022 Finished pictures
« on: August 30, 2020, 08:42:36 PM »
This has been a fun build. Finally completed  after about 2 years. I'm now waiting for the title so I can get the license plates and finally get it on the road.
The Illinois State Police Inspector was here to make sure it was ready for the road. Everything passed with flying colors and he liked it so much, he asked if I would build him one. He was kidding, but it was nice to have a State Police Official that was a fan of these cars like we are, and a nice guy to boot.
Here are the pictures.

General Questions / Turn signal wiring
« on: September 02, 2019, 04:13:35 PM »
I am trying to figure out the turn signal wires and any help will be appreciated. The two brown wires lead from the headlight dimmer button on the back of the turn signal lever. Not sure where they connect. Have a toggle on the dash that I can use to switch from low beam to high beam, but connecting the two brown wires to that mechanical switch won't work. It would need a relay and I can't tell where it's at in this Haywire harness.
Also, I did a continuity test on the other wires and by using the turn signal lever, I have continuity from {solid black to, green with black stripe } for right signal and  {solid black to, black with white stripe}, for left signal.
Now you would normally think the solid black would be a ground. Where is the power feed for this setup? Is the solid black the power feed, and what does that hook into? I'm a little Leary of hooking up a power feed until I know where I'm going with it.
All other gauges, gauge lights, fan, etc work fine, but lighting is a little goofy right now.
Would appreciate some help as I'm assuming all the cars use the same Volkswagen turn signal assembly.

Build Pictures / HM2022

Moving along pretty well but have a question about the aluminum panels.I talked with Alec and he walked me through where most of go. However, if anyone has pictures of the final, or even partially done panel placement, I would appreciate seeing them.

The suspension is all done, so now that it's a roller, I can move it over to the heated side of my shop for the winter as soon as I get my 1971 Mach 1 finished. Nothing like doing two projects at once!!

I'm getting close to dropping the engine in, picture attached, so as soon as that is in, I'll want to install the aluminum panels in. Any help with pictures will be greatly appreciated.
Expect to be on the road next summer...can't wait.

General Questions / lower control arm tabs
« on: June 29, 2018, 04:58:30 PM »
Anyone run into this? The forward tabs on the passenger side are out of position by about a 1/4". I cannot insert one of the conical washers on the left side of the front tube, and there is too much space on the right side. I can start doing some bending and re-drilling holes, but wonder if anyone else has seen this. If I start bending the tabs, the holes will be out of alignment. I can do something else for spacers I guess, but they won't be those nice little conical spacers that fit back into the heim ball.

General Questions / Body weight
« on: June 17, 2018, 07:07:38 PM »
Could someone please tell me what the approximate weight of the body is? I built the body buck from Paul's website. I may shorten it about 4", but I want to make sure I have enough warm bodies here to lift it in place. I'm thinking 5 may be enough. I did mention that there will be beer.....so I may get 55!!! Will make sure beer after the job is done. Otherwise we may install the buck on top of the body!

General Questions / New build HM-2022
« on: June 14, 2018, 10:29:28 PM »
Hello everyone. I have threatened to build a Cobra for 25 years and have finally started the process. Looking at the various kits, I had decided on Hurricane quite some time ago when it was located in Lees Summit Missouri. As life kind of got in the way, I lost track of Hurricane, but finally a couple years ago, finding it again in Lake City, I decided now was the time. Reading online of kit quality and of virtually everything that is included, sold me. It was delivered by a couple of good guys, Alec and Jason, on 6/13/18. I appreciated all their help.
It will be a short time before the build starts as I am about finished with my 71 Mach 1. I am sure I will have some build questions occasionally. Everyone seems very helpful on the forum so if you will all allow me to rely on your previous build expertise on those odd questions I will most likely ask, it will be greatly appreciated.
I am pleased to be part of the Hurricane family and hopefully will be able to meet some of you folks along the way.
