General Questions / Re: Body weight
« on: June 18, 2018, 11:10:18 am »
I would say less than 200 LB Dad and I moved the body several times just the two of us. The brace front to rear cowl is very important. When going on and off the chassis you do need at least 4 bodies, you need to be able to float around and watch things and help flex the sides out past the tub.

Russ I jumped back here as not to take the other thread too far off topic.  I had similar issue when we went to register I had bought the engine some 12 years prior from a judge (now deceased) bought the trans at local swap meet, the MOHP about had a stroke over it, we ended up filing a lawsuit against the DMV claiming ownership of all the items (motor, trans, etc.), after wining that they were very happy to help. Even let dad affix the state tag where we wanted. Funny thing was they gave us inspection sticker but never inspected it.

General Questions / Re: Cockpit tub heat insulation...
« on: September 07, 2017, 07:26:07 am »
Aaron, I used the thin adhesive backed stuff that came with the kit in the engine side of the foot boxes before I installed the aluminum. In the cockpit I used a product call Rblock, which is about the same a dynamat or hushmat. It is a foil faced product that is some what adhesive and you cut and roll into place. I did almost the whole cockpit for heat and sound purposes.
I have to figure out how to post pictures since all the photo bucket crap went down. Aaron, can you still access it?

General Questions / Re: Assembling powertrain...

Aaron, I will add my two cents.
No Loctite on the bell housing, but I always use it on the Flywheel and clutch bolts (most of the time I use "red" unless I know I am going to be back soon).

If you don't have a cradle put your motor mounts on and set down on jack stands on either side, but keep some weight on the hoist while you assemble the clutch and bell. Needs to be fairly solid so you can wrench the motor over to dial in (remove the spark plugs - to make it easier).

On your X brace, probably not an issue yet but be sure to put the bolts in from the bottom so they don't become "trapped" after the tub is on.

Good luck - let us know if you get stuck.
