Dan,

I'll be there also.  Probably just Friday and Saturday.  It's amazing that I still find things that I just have to buy at the show.  There should be a lot of DSCC cobras there.

Chris

Bill,

Sounds like you had fun at the show.  Congratulations on the car looking so good.  The thing I've noticed most at shows is the look of authenticity of the Hurricane compared with some of the other cars.  One of the Backdraft owners commented on the way several men had run their hands under the rolled rear fender-wells and asked why.  The answer was to see if it was a real aluminum car.  That says a lot about the body style.

Chris

General Questions / Hurricane at Lake Mirror Classic
« on: October 21, 2007, 08:06:12 am »
Hey Guys,

Just wanted to let you know that everything went well at the Lake Mirror Classic in Lakeland, FL.  I even got Sterling Moss to sign the tee shirt.  There were 7 replicas attending on the street and one original 289 that was in the trophy area.  There was my HM, an EM, BDR, Classic, 2 ERAs, and 1 Unique.  The weather held for Saturday until 3:30 and I split for the 1 1/2 hrs back to Orlando.  We all had a good time.
Regards,
Chris

There are many of us with Southern Automotive FE engines.  There hasn't been a problem to my knowledge with the header clearance.  When you order the car, you specify which engine you will use and your car is custom made for that engine.  If you have clearance questions, a call to Mike or Rich will set you straight.

Chris

General Questions / Re: Which Motor/drivetrain choice did you make?

I'm happy with a Southern Automotive FE390/406, wide ratio toploader, and 3.08 IRS.
I'm at the go-cart stage and the balance front to rear feels good.  Starting is no problem with torque and wide ratio trans with taller rear gear.  From start 3rd feels just like 1st, all GO!  I've had it to 70 in 4th at 2600rpm and it runs strong.

Chris

General Questions / Re: Oil Filter adapters?
« on: October 18, 2006, 06:21:57 pm »
I bought mine as a unit from Southern Automotive.  The only difficult thing to find is the oil block plate for the crankcase that raises the oil lines above the chassis.  The part number is C5TE-6884-B.  I found mine on Ebay for $22.  With a 1965 part number you know it's period correct.  Everything else is readily available.

Chris

Craig,

Your car looks great!  It will be interesting to see how your build goes with the painting done before the mechanicals.  I'mm sure you get a boost just looking at it.

Phil,

I agree with the idea to install blowers.  I have been very pleased with the air cooling we get from the 3" blowers.  No doubt you will notice a big differenct too.

For Sale / Re: HM1006, w/ or w/o, KC 482 Al Pond TKO600
« on: August 26, 2008, 11:22:10 am »
Brad,

This is a heck of a deal for somebody.  I think you're giving it away.  The car is extremely well built and equipped.  With that setup and the Pond it's easily worth (cost) 10-15K more.
